There's a really weird indirect defensiveness of Teddy by some in the red, with plenty of posts, that is just hilarious. Let us not spend so much energy responding. The dude is gone. He's outta here. Insignificato. Beta bologne. A silly muted man who can't make it into the premier Finnish sauna. He gets directed to the mud baths in Denmark. Yes, it's easy to bash someone online, but he just irks the nerves in such a irritating way. Goodbye Theodore. You will not be missed. You are slightly behind Rodney Peete and ahead of Matt Moore in our history of QBs. -
Just because we didn't use Thomas doesn't mean we won't use a TE. We had 1 year so far with this spread offense. And Pitts isn't quite a TE. He can line up slot and at X

Agree with this. This isn't a super deep draft like last year but there's a larger second tier than usual. I think this is also why we wanted to keep our 3rd and 4th rounders this year. We could trade up into the 2nd after that first second rounder. Could land a starting OT, OG, and CB pretty instantly this year. 1-8: Slater OT/OG 2-8: Mayfield/Cosmi OT/OG 2-Trade: Samuel Jr./Adebo CB

Teddy will likely get cut if we can’t trade him.
saX man replied to Ja Rhule's topic in Carolina Panthers
If we're cutting him we're rolling with Walker and using that $ elsewhere. Maybe we land Mond or Mills, but meh. Most backups are 1-5 mil/yr so we're actually saving a fair amount even though we eat dead money. For me--I'd rather roll with Darnold+Walker and no TB with 7.95 mil to spend than Darnold, 23 mil towards a backup, & no extra savings. -

I'd prefer a really bad backup that just launches the ball downfield at will. I'm talking Jake Rudock, Matt Barkley quality. -

There's really no point to keep him. We've got our new QB and we still have our primary backup in PJ "tank commander XFL" Walker if Darnold isn't the guy. I suspect he goes to Houston or Denver. If cut post-June 1st, we're still eating $15 mil but we're also saving $8 mil towards the cap. Without a cut we're just wasting all of the money. Then next year it's just $5 mil dead cap to eat and we save $21 mil. We've already made our big FA moves so just cut the kid if we can't ship him. We seemed to have worked our cap situation to work with or without his contract. -

Two more: Paulson Adebo OCB Stanford 6’1 190 I want a tougher, more rounded, physical talent to compliment what we have in Donte. In addition, we value dynamic/versatile types and that’s what Adebo is. He seems like a talent to seek out and put on the outside. "Physical, long and he is going to test well. For how we would use him, I think he's one of the best fits for us in the draft. I don't see any way he gets out of the second round." -- National scout for NFL team Jermar Jefferson RB Oregon State 5’11 206 I could see Jefferson’s ‘run over your face’ style pairing really well with CMC. Also LOVE the way he maintains balance while bumping off tackles. A bit early J Stew vibes.

Teddy was known to twilight as a stewmaster for the toasmaster classes. So he never participated but stirred the pot behind the qs counter.

David Moore OG/C Grambling State Moore played on Rhule’s Senior Bowl team and looked really damn good. He could be a steal if he’s remained under the radar and Rhule liked what he saw. You know how he loves his “football” guys who are all bought in? Well that's Moore and then some. I think he's a target of ours R3-5.
-
It may have been Rhule and he's impressed me fwiw...but don't forget, Herbert would have been our pick if LAC didn't pick him so a lot is circumstantial. He did mention addressing defense first and then this year offense so it's definitely part of the plan. I think fortifying the D makes sense strategically because you at least keep games close. Then when the average offense has a randomly good game, you are competing with teams like KC which we did. I could see a CB or DT being picked this year but it will be offense heavy.
-
I think Scot mentioned it but on the flipside, maybe this will be like the Matt Flynn/Russell Wilson year for the Seahawks. Maybe we draft Mond and he ends up dazzling. QB position solved. Though Darnold is much more capable than Flynn. And I'm actually growing more and more excited about Darnold the more I read and hear peeps talk about him.
-
Sounds like we're waiting for the draft to shake out. If we land Jones, Lance or Fields, then maybe we don't pick up the 5th year but he's still the Day 1 starter. If we land a stud LT, then we're likely rolling with Darnold as the Day 1 starter with PJ and Tommy Stevens.

A Look at the Offense & Defense as of -- 4/12/2021
saX man replied to SetfreexX's topic in Carolina Panthers
Taking a different look at it, we have the same starters minus Okung that we had going into 2020 which was: Okung-Daley-Paradis-Miller-Moton I don't know if we really signed Elflein to start. He has a similar contract to what Larsen had. Daley was glass though so 100% agree on drafting multiple OLs. Would like more of a sure thing at LG. And of course a LT but the rest is not bad in my opinion. They were ranked #18 last year fwiw. -
I had the check for the chuckle, your thread said Thaddeus Moss to the Panthers. It wasn't the case, thus closed. And you've only made 3 threads before this freakout? Get a grip lol. Don't make misleading titles, we've already got the weird SpecialJuan dude. Make another account and proceed with the clutter.

With everyone getting saucy for some LTs, I present the following: 1. JAX - Lawrence QB 2. NYJ - Wilson QB 3. SF - Jones QB 4. ATL - Pitts TE 5. CIN - Sewell LT 6. MIA - Chase WR 7. DET - Slater LT 8. CAR.... It seemed teams were a bit hesitant to R1 trades live during the draft last year because of the remote situation. Could be the case again and why certain trades got ironed out prior. I also think ATL isn't moving, a new regime does not trade back. They capitalize on top talent. So...let's say there's no trades ahead of us, this could be the first 7. Options: Justin Fields QB Trey Lance QB Jaylen Waddle WR Devonta Smith WR Jaycee Horn CB Others

DJ Moore: Only current WR with consecutive 1100+ yard seasons?
saX man replied to Stumpy's topic in Carolina Panthers
I love DJ. He's always given me Tory Holt vibes. -
Speaking to their 1st pro-day, I checked back and it looked like Rhule was not just intently watching Lance but Radunz was heavily on our microscope. He has one of the better NFL level frames in this class and one of the longer arms over 33". Under 33 isn't always a problem (See: Peters, most of this OT class, plenty of starting LTs), but he's got mad agility and athleticism. Ran what a 4.82 for a 300+ OT? We could be eyeing him with our second pick.
-
My order without Lawrence, Wilson, Sewell or Pitts available: 1. Rashawn Slater LT 2. Jamaar Chase WR 3. Jaylen Waddle WR 4. Justin Fields QB 5. Jaycee Horn CB 6. Trey Lance QB -- Pre-Darnold, Fields and Lance would be at the top but I'd like to see how we do with the 23 y/o #3 overall surrounded with better linemen and weapons.
-
That way we could put Elf on the shelf.
-
Though ideally, I see Rashawn Slater in our future and would be thrilled.
-
Generally speaking, if we go non-LT R1, there's Jenkins, Mayfield, Cosmi, Radunz, a handful of LT potential picks we could make a slight trade up for. Darrisaw & Vera-Tucker are R1 but unsure how the rest shake out. Thinking outside the box, I would not be dissapointed if we wound up doing something like: 1-Pitts/Waddle/Chase/Horn 2-Radunz/Cosmi/Mayfield -- It seems like we may be coveting skills guys up high to maximize our playmaking potential. We're a solid offense if Darnold doesn't fizzle out but we could use another special talent.
-
Seriously. He would reek havoc in the Brady-spread. I also think Chase could be amazing. The other top WRs are hard talents to pass on even with the LT need. I wonder how we'd rank it if the choice was Slater, Lance, Smith, Horn, & Waddle?
-
I doubt we land Sewell. He's the top non-QB talent in the draft IMO. Pitts is 2nd overall for me, Slater 3, Chase 4
