What identity is Canales trying to establish for this team?
jtm replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
I heard part of his corny speech about “everything is about the ball” and knew we were cooked. -
I can’t believe this many people don’t cut the tv off and go enjoy their day. On Canales, we’ve seen this play out many times and we all know what is going to happen. Will it change anything, nope, not with Tepper as the owner.

Is Mike Jack already the 2nd best trade in Panthers history?
jtm replied to Basbear's topic in Carolina Panthers
Probably will not fare well, but if the Panthers can just beat the bad NFL teams and half of the decent teams, this would be a huge improvement and would show progress in the right direction instead of the constant rebuild. -
TMac had an off game and dropped several passes. Also, there is enough film on Bryce and teams know that he will pick you apart if he isn't pressured, so teams are going to pressure him regularly which means short passes.

The Panthers need to go on a run because they have a number of winnable games coming up.
-
With our weak LBs, the safeties have to tackle and this is Ransom's strength. Hopefully one of our young LBs can beat out Rozeboom because he shouldn't be a starter.

Jared Feinberg's Falcons v Panthers film breakdown
jtm replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't get the Moore hate either. He's reliable and is a solid special teams contributor. We have lots of young talent on offense and sometimes you need a vet to make a vet play. -
Smitty goes off on CLT on WFNZ
jtm replied to Move the Panthers to Raleigh's topic in Carolina Panthers
I could use less of Steve Smith's opinion in my life. -
The play calling on the last drive was atrocious. Not one screen or short pass to slow down the pass rush. XL should not have been in the game and he seemed to be going through the motions.
-
He needs to improve his progressions and not look to run every time his primary target is covered. If he does, Sellers could be the number 1 overall pick. If he doesn't, then he'll be a later round flier and the NFL is littered with running QBs that are so so at passing.

Bryce Young is a problem — what would you do if you were Dan Morgan?
jtm replied to OldhamA's topic in Carolina Panthers
It is just week 1. CJ Stroud also looked bad. Let's give Bryce a couple games before the pitch forks come out. Canales is to blame for the team looking flat again to start the year. The play calling is atrocious and why this team continues to try to run when the run isn't working, is baffling. -
That was a mature interview. After a poor game all around, the last thing players want to do is take questions from the media.

If Hunt and Lewis play, the OL will be fine because Christensen is more than capable at fill in duties at LT.

Week 1 - Panthers @ Jaguars (practice tweets, news articles, videos, etc)
jtm replied to Icege's topic in Carolina Panthers
Panthers are going to run the ball like crazy against the Jags. Hopefully the starting OL can play. -
Cam needs to engage whoever Smitty hired years ago to help him with public speaking. Smitty use to struggle to find the correct word and is public speaking has improved tremendously. Cam seems to always struggle to find the correct word and this makes it tough to listen to.

I hope Renfrew comes back, but I doubt he does unless he doesn't have other offers. Kind of seems bush league to cut a guy and then try to get him back, but this is the Panthers. I suspect Renfrew isn't as great as us fans think because the people that watch him every day thought he was the 8th best WR on this team.
-
Panthers fleeced the Vikings in this trade and they need to get Renfrew back asap.
-
I never understood why the Panthers brought Renfrew in because he's basically a Thielen type receiver and not as good.

Josina Anderson: Panthers NOT trading Adam Thielen
jtm replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
It would be so Panther's like to trade Bryce's favorite target for a 5th round pick so they can keep a 6th round WR (Horn). -
The reality is Horn likely would not get poached if he goes to the practice squad. Late round pick that hasn't done anything in the preseason. Granted, he had Jake Plummer throwing him the ball, but nothing on his tape stands out.
-
I don't think they keep 7 WRs and I suspect Moore and Tremayne to PS. If we lose either of these guys to another team, I'm not losing sleep because the NFL has tons of WRs like this. As always, us fans over value our players and this team is yet to score a TD so I doubt anyone is eyeing our fringe WRs.
-
XL is going to have a big year and getting open has never been an issue. TMac is going to garner a lot of attention and XL (or Coker) are going to benefit.
-
As I said before, I'll reserve judgment until week 1. However, if the Panthers come out flat yet again, this regime has to start taking preseason more serious. This teams acts like they are the Eagles or Chiefs in preseason and they don't have the track record or talent to act this way.
