  1. I get that the Saints get compensation in draft picks, but would it not be better for them to get those draft picks from another team not in the NFC South (IE - Denver, Houston, Indy)? It would be like the Panthers trading CMC to the Saints and have to face him twice per year/every year. For the Panthers, this team still needs a lot: QB, DE, DT, TE, WR, depth and etc....do not see how they build a team without the picks they are supposedly giving for Payton. I sure hope this is a smokescreen, and Tepper is not doing this. I am fine with Payton the coach, but I do not think he is worth what it will cost to get him.
  2. Why would the Saints allow their 'ex-admired, Super Bowl coach' go to a division rival?
  3. If I’m not mistaken, there has also been a lot of injuries to the defense in the second half….especially to the secondary but also on the d-line. Also, I’m going to guess that if Wilks is retained, then we will see a lot of new players coming in to the defense…specifically in the d-line and LB’s. I recall an article that indicated that Wilks did not think the d-like was heavy enough and also thought Snow was running a college defense which indicates he did not agree with the players chosen.
  4. I believe Chinn hit him and caused the injury.
  5. Rhule could not develop a rookie QB. Look at how Corral was handled. He was trying to take the easy way out with failed QB’s from other teams…Teddy, Sam, Baker. It is amazing how each QB was worse than the one before. The guy was completely clueless on how to manage an NFL team.
  6. The Redskins did this when drafting RG3 and Cousins in the same draft. Crazy that Cousins was the 4th rounder and RG3 was the first. Also crazy they let Cousins go.
  7. Agree with OP. Cam's rookie season in comparison to what we have now: Williams and Stewart for RB, #89, Greg, and Shockey along with a solid O-line (Gross, Wharton, Kalil). #89 had over 1,300 yards in Cam's rookie year. Any rookie QB thrown into this current offense would not be successful. Whoever they are targeting to be QB next year, they better start by getting him some weapons.
  8. Yeah, look at the Super Bowl winners from last year.....LA Rams. They are 4-9 this year. There are no guarantees when parity reins.
  9. There are so many to bad decisions to choose from. Just to be different, I will add a few from what was already said: 1. Keep Tyler Heinicke. Not a superstar but definitely playing better than any Panther QB has played in years. 2. Keep Gano.....How many kickers have the Panthers burned through since they cut Gano? 3. Don't trade for Darnold. If Heinicke was signed it would not have been necessary.
  10. Andy Reid, Bill Belichick, Tony Dungy and Pete Carroll were retreads after they got fired from their prior HC jobs. And all won superbowls with their new teams.
  11. Definitely a Panthers strength. The Gross, Wharton, Khalil, Otah line was pretty strong in 2008 too.
  12. I actually think the Panthers handled Cam the right way in his first season. Chud was a great OC for him and they brought in Olsen and Shockey along with a great running game (Williams and Stewart) and a good O-line. After year one the plan seemed to have fallen away...but that first year it was a good transition from college to NFL for Cam.
  13. This defensive scheme was not successful with Rhule/Snow. The entire team was terrible today. New coaches will be here in January
  14. This season is a lost cause. They are trying to win with fired coaches players that don’t fit the scheme they want to run. Nobody can defend what we saw today but it does not matter as a new regime will start in January.
  15. If I’m not mistaken, I read somewhere that Wilks did not agree with the defense Snow built…one reason was he thought they were too light and needed more size.
  16. Step one is to get the right coaching staff so they can pick their guy. Everyone thought Lawrence was a pro ready, can’t miss QB coming out of Clemson. Obviously he is still young, but he is not performing up to expectations so far. And Doug Peterson is an outstanding offense guy…. Zach Wilson also not doing great. Who knows about Trey Lance but so far not too good. I think a lot of these QBs success is tied into having the right coaches that can build a system around their strengths. Josh Allen fell into the Bills and they surrounded him with great coaching. Same with Tavares Jackson. Of course they have the talent but you also need coaching and be put in the right situation.
  17. How much money did Rhule make from Tepper? Wow...just wow. To be that bad at your job and make that much money is insane.
  18. This is a non-story. I actually thought this game was well officiated...for once. No stupid calls and no blatant non-calls. Actually the best Panthers 'officiated' game all year
  19. If the defense even glances in Brady’s direction it is going to be a 15-yard roughing the passer penalty.
  20. It is very clear how the roughing the passer works in the NFL. All of the 'star QB's' will get the call every time the defense gets close enough to breathe on them. If you don't have a 'star QB' the defense can do whatever they want. If the defense gets within 3-feet of Brady, they will call it. They might as well play flag football.
  21. Agree this is all on Tepper. He should have fired Rhule and the entire staff in January and hit a full reset for this season. This is a wasted season…
  22. Technically that is the second interception that Stafford his thrown today.
