Which is why you wonder if they figured out after they drafted him that they could do what they originally had planned to run….and then it was too late. Young clearly is it comfortable but I am having doubts that he looks good in any NFL offense. He is a unicorn…some compare his size to Wilson and Brees but that is not accurate as both were bigger. I was not on board with drafting him but figured the experts knew more than me. They clearly were not ready to build an offense around him.

I still wonder how much of the offensive stinkage is due to them trying to figure out how to use an undersized, below average arm strength QB. For all of the pre-draft expert takes on Young, I am not seeing it at all. I watched some of the Jets game Monday and their offense led by Wilson looks very similar to the Panthers. I still think if Dalton plays we would see a significant improvement in how the offense runs. Of course Dalton is not the answer but he clearly is better than Young. If the Panthers wanna win, they should be playing Dalton.

Evidence of Tepper meddling in football operations?
thennek replied to TeppersEgos's topic in Carolina Panthers
1. It was reported Tepper wanted a 3-4 defense and 'suggested' that Rivera run this during his last year. 2. It was reported Tepper was very involved in the Stafford trade talks and ultimately made the decision to not pursue due to a medical concern 3. It was reported Tepper was very involved in the Watson trade talks and ultimately was the one who pulled away due to the money/contract concerns 4. Tepper and wife attending the combine with the QB's and was involved in this process 5. Reich said Tepper was a very involved owner and met with him often/weekly. 6. It was reported many times that Tepper was pushing for a 'franchise QB' (as if his football did not think this was needed and they needed to be pushed?). However, the biggest evidence we have are the results. Since 2018 this team has looked terrible and has the worst record in the NFL. This cannot be a coincidence. -
As long as Tepper is still actively involved and influencing decisions it does not matter what changes they make. In the 5-years he has been owner the Panthers have been in disarray. Each head coach has looked inept, and every offensive coach has looked terrible. Since Tepper owned The Panthers, the offense struggled with Rivera, Rhule and now Reich. It looked presentable with a ground and pound power run game but that is not sustainable in today’s NFL. it cannot be a coincidence that this team has been terrible no matter who the coach is, or who the offensive coordinator is, or who the QB is. The one consistent since 2018 has been the owner who appears to be more involved than he should. He needs to be a silent owner…..and let the football people coach and make decisions if he really wants to win.

I hope you are right but Brees was slightly taller, heavier and had a bigger frame. By initial looks, Brees also had more zip in the ball too. I think the biggest issue most have is what the Panthers gave up to get Young. If he was a second round pick like Brees I do not think you would be seeing the same negative emotions. I also think if the Panthers stayed at 9 and picked Young most would not be as negative.

Seems like today put an exclamation point on it...

Serious answer: Historically the Panthers have tried to build a team through the draft. Since Tepper has been here, that has not worked very well. now that they are in this situation by giving away so much to draft Young, the only way to build this team is free agency. The good news is I do believe they have a decent amount of cap space to try and build a team since they will not have too many draft picks. Hopefully they can bring in another quarterback to compete with young and Dalton. More offensive lineman and some legit WR’s. It is not going to be easy, but it is possible. But Tepper and his wife need to stay out of the decisions. -
Young throws for 3 TD’s.

I am not confident the Panthers will ever win with Tepper as the owner. -
Unfortunately You cannot fire The Teppers . They influenced this pick.
-
LOL- short career
-
The boss wanted Young….
-
At least Clausen got us Cam. For sure this is worse
-
Bryce has thrown 3 TD’s today
-
I don’t know. Dalton looked pretty good when he started with this same offense. Stroud has a different game than Young. He has a stronger arm and is a better runner.
-
Agree..plus how many draft picks were traded for bad decisions
-
I think the Belichick tree was only good due to Brady.
-
I’m convinced that with above average WRs Young can be VERY good
thennek replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think it is more than this. Other than Brady, the line that played yesterday was the same that played last year. Last year this line was average to above average even to a point of them keeping Campen as one of the few coaches from the Rhule regime. I think it is scheme versus talent. I think the new scheme they’re running needs this year needs to change to more of a power running game similar to what they ran late last year and we’re very successful at it. -
His parents are in the stadium watching him…they said it was their first time.

Foreman would have gotten a yard
-
Correct. why would a team do this? Only stupid teams like the Panthers trade away their best offensive players. If CMC stays healthy he could be a HOF potential and DJ was the WR that finally “came the closest” to replacing 89….and the Panthers traded them both away. And now they lack offensive playmakers. Sad really.
-
100%….the run game will set up the passing game. I think the Panthers underestimated Foreman’s value….his style of running worked last year and meshed well with the Oline.
-
The Panthers come back after the bye get some players back like Horn and Corbett, and go 7-4 to end up 7-10 for the year. How about that for positivity?

This team is not talented enough to consistently win or maybe not win at all. The wrong players were signed or drafted and other key draft picks and key players were traded away. This has been going on since 2019. And now many key starters are injured. I am not sure any coach would be successful with this current roster as it is just not any good. It literally has been stripped of talent and limited with no depth. This is on the GM, front office, scouting etc more so than coaches.
