Honestly I am torn. Not down on Burns as some, I think he still can be a premium pass rusher. No one is will to give up 2 1st round picks for an average DE. However getting back into the 1st round if possible this year is enticing. I am leaning towards getting a deal done ( closer to the teams terms then Burns ) and then working on finding a DE to bookend him with but won't be upset either way. I will say, do not be surprised that be pops off once we trade him.

Franchise Tag Deadline: March 5th at 4PM ET.
PanthersGTI replied to Leeroy Jenkins Ph.D.'s topic in Carolina Panthers
It's probably so they can put a final offer on the table and have ticking clock. Pressure can help negotiations, people can get hesitant, emotional, hung up etc... and don't have time to take a step back and think it through. -
If he is an ego maniac, why oh why would he leak this? EXPLAIN IT TO ME. How a man with a ego so big he throws drinks in fans faces even though he is worth billions, he has literal brass balls on his desk, he brought his ex employers house and demolished it, would willing leak a story that says his employees are clowning him because he wife had it right on Stroud. Like give me some logic here not just " wait for Reich to say something ".

I got a question for you. Do you think David Tepper is an ego maniac? Egotistical? Full of himself?
-
So he paid Shefter to make him look bad/dumb? The same Tepper we claim is an ego maniac who can't help himself? Y'all are something else lol.

I mean Sean Payton says the same thing....your QB needs to do his part and make a couple of special plays a game. Canals even directly quoted this when talking about his philsophy. People are so obtuse. He is saying : Im going to design the offense to work for Bryce and I then need him to operate it without feeling like you HAVE to carry it and then trying to play hero ball.

Canales and Morgan at the combine
PanthersGTI replied to Captain Morgan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Interesting note towards the end of that video. He says the offense didn't really click until mid season in Tampa. One of bigger reasons being that they were splitting reps all camp and only started truly crafting the offense to Bakers strengths once he clearly won the job. Hopefully being able to hit the ground running the Bryce and not waste and time/snaps with him will pay off. -
People here love to pile on Bryce like every team but us knew he was going to bust ( Which I don't think he is BTW coaching, WR, Oline etc.. etc.. ) and didn't want him. If we took Stroud, Bryce was going #2. So....no matter how you spin it he was highly regarded and highly ranked. Posters here don't have some magic insight they seem to think. EVERYONE knew his size etc... and still had him up there on the board.

I mean he/they could be training right now.....they just don't make a deal out of it?

Heres a clip with Jordan Matthews on Bates Podcast talking about the hire and what it means to have a former player as a coach.
-
Right, he took a talented defense, It got more talented and still was worse. Then you have the offensive head coach having to step in to change defensive game plans. VS Seattle and the Bengals this year they had to change his game plan up. I think in Seattle it was him leaving Ward on one side of the field only. Seattle obviously saw it and kept giving Metcalf opportunities on the other side of the field. Shannahan had to step in and have Ward start shadowing Metcalf. Its the same poo we saw with Ron Rivera, Defenses just giving the game away with head scratching concepts ( as mentioned here Mike Evans or not giving Greenlaws back up more help with Kelce etc... ) Bend but don't break, vanilla 4 man rushes and 4th quarter defense that lets teams back into the game. Wilks got dealt a fair hand both here and in SF and didn't live up to it.
-
Wilks is overrated on this board. He is alright but his defenses sure seem to get exposed a lot and he can't seem to adjust at all.
-
Seems like he went through something, hopefully he found peace in his life.

Fowler, Graziano: Panthers want to re-sign Frankie Luvu
PanthersGTI replied to BlueBuck24's topic in Carolina Panthers
I hope we can keep him. I think he will be even better with Shaq back beside him. I think he'll rush more. -
Nice! Good for him! Rooting for him to do well there!

It's a little bit of both TBH. Shannahan didn't utilize their best offensive weapon as well as he should have. We all know McCaffery can make things happen, 8 touches could change that game. You do have to credit KCs D, they were doing a very good job limiting any big plays from CMC. I think it has also been shown that Shannahan makes QBs look better then they are. Matt Ryan and Jimmy G also looked amazing when the game plan was rolling along. They also all fell a part when it wasn't so that can't be pure coincidence.

Pep, Steve Smith, Cam -
Read the whole post dofus I addressed Mahomes. Do we have a Kelce? Pacheco? We don't even have someone as good as MVS. Our Oline is in a different league of terrible. Did we have any coaches even half as competent as Reid? Let's not even talk about defense.
-
Did you read the whole thing? I literally addressed Cam in the post.

Such a hilarious take. Can you name a QB recently that has taken a trash offensive line with no real WRs and made them work? All QBs need these pieces in place to work. Closest you can get now is Mahomes and even then he has talent around him PLUS coaching and before that it was Cam and we all saw how that turned out, he still couldn't take this team to consistency by himself. He also did it with a skillset most QBs do not posses. Lamar had a bad OC and no real WRs until now. A QB can make his team better by getting rid of the ball quickly to help negate pressure, which is tough for any rookie QB to do unless you craft the offense around him having limited reads. That DID NOT happen here, the offense game plan was trash and we all saw that. They can help make WRs/TE look better by being accurate and getting them the ball when they win a match up. The only person consistently winning match ups on offense was Thielen and he had like 100 catches and 1000 yards.
-
2 things. 1 they probably didn't think he or the offense was going to be this bad. I think anyone would have thought he would have at least been "serviceable" at his worst. We got way worse then that, he was flat out awful. 2 I bet Staley had a lot to do with him coming in as well, Sanders was his guy and I don't think Fitt or Reich had the balls to say no.
-
I 100% agree. I think Sanders showed nothing and we don't have a guy on the roster who can catch like that. It seems like it is integral to the offense.
-
Could be dope to have him there to be a team mentor or something like that. I would hope TDs name still carries some weight in that locker room.
-
Good point, I forgot scheme. I guess in general I mean pass rusher. We need someone to double up with Burns. Haynes has potential but his injury this year set him back so its still up in there air if he lives up to it.
