Vikings at Panthers Predictions - Let's hear it
CarolinaLivin replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
This is a winnable game. Even with the bad blocking and turnovers (last week)... if we didn't have as many penalties as we did, we likely could've won despite that. Had like 8 or 9 penalties and gave up at least 60 yards due to that (someone would have to check for exact numbers). If we can cut back on some of those flags, we'll have less 3rd and long situations. That will help a lot. -

Our defense can still have a great game, but we aren't facing a terrible defense either. If our OL plays like last week it'll be long. Or... I'd hate to put more pressure than there needs to be on Joe Brady but if he can draw something up to counteract our OL woes... then that's our chance. I think Robby was onto something. I know our OL limits what we can do and the kinds of route/plays we call, but I still hope guys are vocal and our staff is open to adjustments that players may suggest. Not just adjustments the coaches think will work. -

You can argue that CMC playing would help the Panthers in 3rd down situations and just helping the offense stay on the field in general, which would allow the defense to rest more. -

This is a game where Joe Brady shows us something. Opens it up and shows us why "he's special". That's my prediction, not sure if I can call it bold or not :/ since we haven't seen much special from the offensive play-calling -

The path to a dominant offensive line
CarolinaLivin replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Rhule and CO. are only responsible for as far as 1 year ago. They obviously value a strong defense more. They had to rebuild the roster. We weren't a player or two away. We weren't an OL away (from being contenders) before, but now we just about are... Why? Because of Rhule & CO. -
The path to a dominant offensive line

Or... maybe a new front office made a bad decision... (IMO they didn't) every team makes a few moves that they wish they didn't make. The difference is how they learn from those mistakes and when they choose to cut their losses and move on. Example: Denzel Perryman. As a team and as a roster, I like where we are at. We may not be perfect, but they did a damn good job with the roster and draft picks they had. Every year they do "re-Drafts" of where they think players should have gone and which teams made bad decisions. No team makes every move right. Now if we don't upgrade the OL after this upcoming off-season... we have a problem. But right now? They have done everything we could have asked for. They are preparing for next off-season while still focusing on winning now. Just like we filled some holes before the draft so that we don't have to draft for need. We are doing the same thing. By the time we are in the off-season the only upgrades we will need are what... OL? maybe a safety and maybe a LB. I mean after OL, we could use talent but only NEED depth in other positions. -

The way I see it.... Teams that have been successful in limiting some of what Hurts and company can do have good Man coverage CB's. Hurts likes to to throw a lot to the sidelines. Saw a chart that revealed that he didn't throw much down the middle. Maybe it as a gameplan thing. Maybe it plays towards his strengths some. The team shows that it can move the ball, but there are some "rookie type mistakes" that hurts is still making that we can exploit. Also the Smith/Hurts connection isn't as great as people think. He has like 22 catches on like 40 targets. As long as we can stop the run game we should be fine. And from what I hear playcalling and coaching are some of the main issues in philly.

Deep dive on the Gilmore deal from The Athletic's Jeff Howe
CarolinaLivin replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Apparently Devante Adams tweeted yesterday "call me" while tagging Gilmore in a post as an attempt to kind of recruit him. Knowing where the Packers sit Cap wise im sure he knew they couldn't trade for him, but likely hoping that he would hold out and not end up being traded. He later tweeted "He never called". Which maybe shows that he wasn't interested. Or maybe he knew he wouldn't get what he wanted in an extension with them. Plus they're two franchise guys (Rodgers, Adams) might not even be there next year. And since it was said the the Patriots wanted to send him to a favorable place. Favorable on both sides most likely. This leads me to believe Carolina was the only team on the list that he wanted to go to that could afford to trade with him. But it could also mean there wasn't many teams on his list. -
