REPORT: Burns practically a "lock" to be traded before the deadline
rmoneyg35 replied to saX man's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah teams can’t openly admit they are tanking but don’t think for a second it doesn’t happen. You don’t think the colts tanked to get Luck? poo…. Dolphins tried to, other teams tried to as well. I think it may be against the rules to do it but it happens. Also teams aren’t going to admit it because it would cause fans to not spend money on tickets, because if the team don’t care why should the fans? -
Peyton Manning on Will Levis and the Panthers
rmoneyg35 replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah but fields sucks if you ask me. Yeah he has a big play here and there but Jesus Christ every player does if you give them enough chances. He hardly ever throws for over 200 yards. -
This brings up a good point, as good as people claim our defense is they suck at getting to the QB. We need a solid #2 DE that can get to the QB. We haven’t really played any great Qbs yet either. Horn is a solid #1 CB. Jackson is a solid #2 CB. Woods is a solid safety. Chinn has potential but might need to be a LB. He’s solid in the run but not so good in coverage and is learning. Luvu is solid and has made big plays but he isn’t great. Can be inconsistent. Shaq Thompson is solid. D Brown is still young and has potential and has improved this year. Other than that our defense has a bunch of average to below average players. Horn and Burns are our only great players on the defense. We have a few solid players and some young players with potential but we need more special players which we will only get through the draft or free agency/trades.

Peyton Manning on Will Levis and the Panthers

Yeah but 3.2, 3.5 and -1.4 ypc isn’t good. Also I’m sick of people acting like QB rushing TDs matter. Most of the time they are just running it up the middle for a few inches, stretching out their arms for the td or running it in while the defense is covering everyone else so the qb litterally has to walk into the end zone for an easy score. -

Didn’t Joe Borrow have to leave Ohio state to go to LSU because they started another QB over him? Tua over Hurts, it’s happened plenty of times before. -

Have you seen Levis rushing stats? -
A second look at Tepper's presser after a few days
rmoneyg35 replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
While I understand the criticism of Tepper I also think we have to be reasonable and realize he’s new to this and is going to make mistakes. The question is if he will learn from these mistakes or not. -
REPORT: Burns practically a "lock" to be traded before the deadline

Who cares we are tanking. We are going to need a few years to become a contender. Trade everyone now for maximum value or we can keep everyone on big contracts and stay an average to below average team. -

Is Burns over rated? His size limits him and he doesn’t get 10 sacks. Would he be better in a 3-4 as an OLB? he’s probably our most valuable asset and will be wanting a lot of money. Why not trade him when we can probably get a first and another top pick. Possibly 2 first? Or a first and a second or third? Pass rushers are highly valued. -
I think QBs need time to develop, yes some QBs are great right away but some need years to develop. They also need the right system, coaches and players to succeed. Also changing coaches and systems every year isn’t good for young QBs. look how long it took for Alex Smith to become a top QB. He was horrible. Geno Smith has played well despite not being great for the first few seasons. Steve Young was a horrible player on a horrible team and it wasn’t until he went to the 49ers that he became an all pro super bowl winning QB. You have to have patient with the QB position.

2023 QB watch list Herdon Hooker
rmoneyg35 replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yes but Mahomes is a generational talent who ended up on a team with coaches that knew how to use him and players that would work with that system. Put the qb with the wrong system and team they might not be as good. -
I doubt we can get a first for him but I wonder if we offer to eat the contract for a year or two that we could get a first or more out of them? Not like we are a season a way from winning a Super Bowl so we could do it.

Honestly I don’t see what is so great about Levis. His stats aren’t that good. He doesn’t wow me on tape. I think a top qb should dominate in college -
Tanking does not guarantee a good QB
rmoneyg35 replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yes it scares me but you can be a successful Qb in the NFL and be short, just look at Brees and Wilson both top QBs in their prime. -

rmoneyg35 replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Panthers
No it doesn’t guarantee it but it helps knowing you can get the top QB pick with the number one pick. -
I wonder how much better we would be with Bozeman at C. I know Elf has a decent PFF score but I swear I always see him on the ground and getting in the way of a run or qb scramble.
-
I say let’s sign a few QBs to the practice squad let them learn the playbook and let’s see what they can do in a month from now. Who knows we might find someone who’s decent.
-
He’s caught 5 out of 6 passes for 58 yards. Calm down it’s not like we have a pro bowler hidden away.
-
He has a career qb rating of under 55. That’s all you need to know
-
I’m pretty sure there were some good LT that could have been drafted in those drafts though.
-
How much control did he have? Was it him doing the drafting and trading? HonestIy feel we have done a good job of drafting and signing players under him. Yeah baker hasn’t worked out but the trade was still good. Henderson and Darnold was the only two trades I didn’t like but they weren’t horrible. Darnold for a 2nd round pick at that time was a decent trade. He’s still young and has potential, Alex smith looked worse than Darnold and it took him over 5 years to become a good qb.

What is going on with the QB position the next couple weeks?
rmoneyg35 replied to GOAT's topic in Carolina Panthers
What if Eason ends up being good? I always believed that there are QBs that would be good if they were just given the chance. Also I believe some QBs could be good but just need time to develop. 2-3 years isn’t enough, for example it took Alex smith over 5 years to develop into a top 10 qb. -

Some positivity regarding the current Roster

The thing that has always worried me about icky is that he’s known as a great run blocking LT and his weakness is pass blocking. That’s not something you want in a LT who’s main job is to protect the QBs blind spot. I always felt that he could always be moved to guard if he sucked at LT and he would be a great guard. Let’s hope he keeps improving.
