  1. Its beyond idiotic that wearing or not wearing a mask has become a political issue. Shows just how far our politics have sunk.
  2. Some good news regarding treatment of the most severe cases. https://www.npr.org/sections/coronavirus-live-updates/2020/06/16/878069587/early-results-show-benefit-of-steroid-for-very-sick-covid-19-patients Legitimate study that shows some promise. It won't prevent the disease, but does show that it can help those that already have the disease to survive and recover.
  3. It is stupid, but Trump has said a lot of stupid things. He has so many to choose from, not sure if this even makes the top 10.
  4. https://www.nfl.com/news/multiple-cowboys-texans-players-have-tested-positive-for-covid-19
  5. Yeah, but this is Merica's team. Seriously though, I doubt one or two players getting it would have an impact, but if it spread to several, who knows.
  6. Just saw a report that Ezekiel Elliot tested positive. If more of their stars start testing positive, could have a dramatic impact on the NFL season.
  7. I suppose its not the only reason for the waves of resurgence of the flu, but the soldiers themselves came home in waves, with the last WW1 veterans not returning until 1920. The treaty of Versailles was signed in June of 1919, and there was still over 800,000 US soldiers in Europe I believe.
  8. But you also have to factor in large numbers of soldiers returning to the US, Australia, and areas from Europe, And returning packed on a variety of ships with lower hygene standards.
  9. What do you have against the Who. https://www.thewho.com/
  10. Time to sell United today. Nearly doubled the amount I put into it. Got to find another stock to buy with what I made though.
  11. Sold today at 11, so it worked out fairly well. I also bought some United stock, that I will hang on to for a while. Lost money on a couple of stocks, but overall I have made a decent amount. This is just a little playing around with it money that I am using right now, but hoping to make enough money to take the wife to Greece next spring. Or at least pay for the air fare.
  12. Good luck. My sister inlaw that lives in Los Angeles and works in healthcare actually had Covid 19. It was a rough two weeks for her, far worse than any of the strands of flu she had.
  13. I have to admit I would wait and see. Let others go first, and then see what happens. But unfortunately, my wife would likely be required to get it.
  14. If memory serves, the original purpose of the lockdown was keep the Hospitals from getting overwhelmed as happened in Italy. There were a number of news articles about it in March. Also, they wanted to give manufacturing a chance to catch up with the critical need for medical equipment. https://www.newsobserver.com/news/coronavirus/article241337291.html
  15. I lived in Hawaii for three years, and if I could afford it, I would retire there. I hate snow and cold.
  16. I don't think they should send money to the upper wage earners who haven't lost their jobs. Although sorting it all out would be difficult. I got money during the last stimulus, but I didn't really need it. Both my wife and I are still working, and in truth, we aren't spending much money. So I wasn't sure why I got it. But I spent it by having an out of work friend install a new floor in our kitchen, so I suppose that is the point of sending us the money, ie to keep the economy moving.
  17. American Airlines is at 9.5 or so a share. Thinking about buying a few shares. My only concern would be if they eventually have to declare bankruptcy, but that doesn't look likely right now.
  18. Me talking to my son when things begin to re-open.
  19. There are over 300 million Americans, and you really believe that not a single one is humble?
  20. Damn Californians. https://www.pbs.org/newshour/nation/asian-americans-describe-gut-punch-of-racist-attacks-during-coronavirus-pandemic
  21. That game was on the NFL network yesterday. I watched a few minutes of it.
  22. FYI, its human nature around the world.
  23. Well, yes and no. Preparedness for things that happened in the past is relatively easy to get dollars for. Before 9-11, if they asked congress for money to prepare for a terrorist attack with hijacked airliners, the laughter would have been loud. Afterwards, it was easy to get money to help prevent another similar attack. Same with Pearl Harbor. Human nature I guess to prepare for the threats you know instead of the ones that are mostly theoretical. We are usually ill prepared the first time something happens, but better the second time. Assuming the second time is within living memory.
  24. Since we are at war with the Virus. I love the smell of Clorox in the morning. Smells like victory.
  25. No doubt we could have handled it a lot better. I certainly didn't mean to excuse the things our government did or did not do. But South Korea certainly had a much easier situation to deal with.
