I hope they do it and I hope they don't wait too long to get him in there. But build your offense around his traits, whether he's starting or not. You know the direction you want to go, so just build it.
-
I think they all know he's fool's gold by now. We were his last chance.

Corrall has a lot of very good traits that would be easy to build around and would produce some exciting football. He's a guy you HAVE to build your offense around, though, rather than a guy you could plop in any system and have them excel. And that's fine, because you should be able to and should be building the offense around the QB you are hoping to be your guy for years.

I'm hoping for Jojo Domann at this point. Could be fun to watch.

Getting those two guys gets them an A+ in my book. I was happy just getting either Icky or Neal and after that I considered it a success. Corrall was my favorite QB, but I never thought we'd be able to get him after going LT with the 6. I'm quite satisfied.

I expect it. What safeties are on the board?

I was kind of joking when I was giving @LinvilleGorge crap saying that Howell would be around when we picked in the 4th. Never thought he would stick around that long. Kind of shocked. Good luck with Rivera. Pretty crappy division so they might do ok with him.

Round 4 Pick 120: Brandon Smith, LB, Penn State
rayzor replied to Icege's topic in Carolina Panthers
Never heard of the guy but... Super athletic hard hitter from Penn St? Sure...I'm in. -
Smartest play at this point in the draft is to go BPA. First 2, maybe 3 rounds not so much but past the 3rd round you take what you can get hoping you find some good ball players.
-
Yes. We run the ball more so sure, why not? Plus, he's got lots of room for growth and has shown incredible capability for improvement in all facets. And it's not like he sucked at pass-pro. He did well and got better every year.
-
Gotcha. Yeah, he knows..... everyone knows that Sam is not the QB we want to build around. I guess it was worth a shot, but it was a long shot, especially considering the damage that had been done in NYJ. He's basically David Carr. Corrall definitely has potential and is coming from a good situation hopefully into a decent situation because of the improved OL and addition of MacAdoo. We'll see. He's got the tools needed to run a good offense. I think he'll do well enough.

There was nothing in Grier's play to assume he would ever amount to anything in the pros. All he cou look do was interview well, which was the only thing his drafting was based on. Corrall's play was definitely transferable to the pros. He's dynamic and did quite enough against better competition to show he could handle the NFL. Lots more to work with there than with Grier. Overall, just a lazy comparison.

If only there was an available RPO expert QB to mentor Corral....
rayzor replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
I wouldn't hate it, in fact if Cam is in the league it should be in a Carolina jersey, but I don't know how necessary it is because Corrall's naturally very good at it anyways. The second thing I liked about him was watching him run the option. It was very Cam-like....very fluid. Cam was a master at it, especially working with CMC it was a work of art. With Sam, it was just awkward. Sam just doesn't have it. I loved watching us run the option. It was exciting to watch, especially with a QB who can run like Cam. I think Matt Corrall is the most Cam-like QB we could have asked for of the options we had. I don't think he'll be as good, but Cam at his best was the GOAT. Corrall will have the benefit of having MacAdoo who will open a lot more things up for him. Better system, better offense, better coaching (not figuring Rhule in that). I think he'll do well and he'll make it fun to watch the QB again. And btw.... I'd be ready for some triple option up in here. -
Better question....who finishes the season? My answer will be Matt Corral. They'll give Sammy more than enough opportunity to show he can do it, longer than they should, but we all know how that works out. Then Matt steps in and we don't look back. I think we'll see the best QB play from him that we've seen since Cam's shoulder fell apart. Ultimately we'll be happy with what he does. But even if we aren't, we'll swing again next year which should have a better crop of QBs to choose from. Corrall was the best QB of this draft and gave us the best long term solutions of any of the QBs who were in discussion for here after Watson (thankfully) fell through. I'm just glad that 1) they got us a stud LT (which makes this draft a win regardless of what happened after that) and 2) they The GM crew) kept swinging for a QB. I don't trust Rhule to know his ass from his elbow, but I trust those coaches that got brought in to know how to spot talent. Same with Fitt, Cole Spencer, and Dan Morgan. Plus you've got guys like Chris Simms who are pretty good at spotting talent at QB saying that Corrall is the best of this year's class. I still don't feel good about Rhule or Tepper, but I've got some reasons now to feel ok about how the rest of this team has shaken out. And no, Corral wouldn't have been there at our 4th round pick. I'm not happy about having lost a pick from last year, but at least they didn't have a Hurney moment and trade away a first or even a second from next year. I'm hoping they learned their lesson about trading those picks away.

Round 3 Pick 94: Panthers Select Matt Corral - QB Ole Miss
rayzor replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
My favorite of this QB class. I was more a Willis fan early on, but the more I saw of Corral, the more I liked him. Best chance at a good long term QB we were going to have this year. I'm glad we took a shot and I'm glad it didn't cost more.- 578 replies

REPORT: Robby Anderson available for trade
rayzor replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Make him and Sam a package deal. Just because. -
Lol that was awesome. "Scott Fitterer with the laser eyes"
-
(*probably fake news*) Panthers turned down a trade offer last night.
rayzor replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
It's a whole lot of nuts. No blind squirrel is that lucky. -
If he's not a free agent I don't want him. No trades for anyone. Not this year. That's the first issue. Second issue is he's only arguably and nominally better. Being better than Sam isn't enough. Let's aim higher....or just deal with it and get a better draft pick next year.
-
that is ugly, though. really ugly.
-
they're trying to compete with Fitt for number of trades.
