I figured this would get some goats.  lol  ...  heard the same crap about Peppers being an NC guy and a panther for life.  "That's not the type of man he is"  ... LOL.  I guess you know him personally now.

 

The morons are the serendipitous fans that have blind faith in past / present management and believe once a team drafts a player, he is there for life.  He hasn't said he wants to leave ... Of course he is not going to say he wants to leave ... too much of a s**tstorm.  The line is he won't comment on contracts b/c he is solely focused on winning.  That's football-talk.  He's not foolish enough to address it either way.  However, if this year is a step backwards and he only has the option year left, ya never know.  

 

Two completely different situations. Peppers was not wanted here by us. We let him go. We not only want Cam, but need him, and our management knows we need him. And Cam has not only not said he wants to leave but has actually said he loves the Panthers and doesn't want to leave. QB and DE are incomparable, especially these two specific players.

I guess the point is...if for some reason he is halfway through 2015 without an extension why would he not test the market? Anybody would.

This is the same question I ask anytime anyone says that Cam will leave or won't want to be here.  Give me one example where a quarterback left a team in free agency when his team wanted him to stay.  There is not one example I can't think of. Can you??

None of the players subject to the new CBA with a 5th year option have been extended to my knowledge. All GM's are taking advantage of the option, unless they just don't want the player anymore (see Gabbert).

 

I'm sure Cam's agent advised him they would do this a long time ago.

I'm wondering if Marty would have locked him up by now. I like what DG is doing. If he continues to improve then sign him to a long term deal but let's see how well he does in his fourth and fifth year before extending him.

That assumes he wants to remain a Panther. We haven't exactly surrounded him with weapons. Money wont matter because he will get alot no matter where he goes.

To every one who keeps saying he is going to leave, think about it. How many times in the past has a top flight Qb left the team he was on? Anytime they leave its because the team runs them off, like the Colts did to Manning. You don't see Luck, Rodgers, Brady or Brees running to another team just because the team won't get them weapons. If you listen to a Qb then the other 10 guys on the field would be WRs or TEs.

Again that is because they lock them up early with contract extensions.

 

How many of those QBs made it into the last year of their rookie contract (besides Brees who SD didn't want)?
