"When you reach, you get screwed." - Dave fuging Gettleman

most years there are not 32 players with first round grades, but 32 players are picked in the first. its depends on your grade, you could have 17 1st, 28 2nds and 59 3rds as your rank system. well if picking 25th and youre 17 1sts are gone, youre looking to add a third rounder cause you have value there.

if most teams board have 14 players with first round grades and you pick 30, more than likely thats similar to a 2nd rounder in terms of player value. each draft is different and theres talent drop offs thought-out each number. "after our 83rd player, all the rest have 7th round grades" so try to maximize drafting in early rounds depends on how your players fall. trade current/future picks to ensure the advance of your grading system.

I like Gettleman's blunt and to the point style. I do agree with the BPA method of drafting, and trying where possible to not reach for players. But there does eventually come a time when you need to draft players to fill a need, otherwise you can be left with tons of depth in some positions, and glaring holes at others. It is going to be interesting to see whether we do end up with a receiver and a tacke high, or whether we end up with a different position altogether.

Anyone know the person who kept asking questions about contracts after Gettleman specifically told them he does not talk contracts? I'm pretty sure the same reporter has done it before in another press conference, only to be told by Gettleman that he doesn't talk contracts. You'd think they would have got the point by now...

I don't think "blue goose" equates to "good value" though.

If someone like Aaron Donald fell to 28, then we'd be talking "blue goose".

(I'd be shocked to see that, though)

im HUGE hageman supporter. hes a taller star in alot of areas.

add him with nix,  jerngain, ealy, ford, lawrence, and even ceichton. the 20s is where they are in most ranking, given the draft is offensive rich and deep, where as defensive is thin and drops off fast..... drafting DL maybe the best value in the first. addison and alexander are also on one year deals too.

We should not be surprised at any pick. There are a lot of quality players also that will be cut towards the end of camp

If he feels he needs another DE because of looming contracts and not being able to keep CJ fine...or even LB. Love Thomas but that knee is a concern

Offense is troubling but I will trust the GM that pieced together that 12 and 4 team.

has Star's heart been showing problems again or are we still worried about his health?

is Kawann having some off the field issue that puts his future in jeopardy?

I'm not sure why you're having these thoughts. You're overthinking it -- Gettleman just believes in drafting BPA.

Basically means BPA per usual.

Won't be drafting for need, meaning if they feel a DE is the BPA (let's say Ealy falls to 28) we're drafting DE

So we would draft a qb or mlb at 28?

Get the fug out of here.

Big boards and BPA are subjective as hell and needs are factored into the equation.
