Charles Godfrey Takes Large PAYCUT

Person says it is.

Jones says it isn't.

Don't know.

Person doesn't sound entirely sure about exact figures and seems to be making a general assumption (at least in the article I read).  Even with Smitty's savings, we still needed a bit more for the rookies.  My guess is we'll find more money later, as we need it, but this paycut at least made sure we have the money in pocket to pay draft picks.

For those pissed that we still have Godfrey, wtf?

He played well at within Rivera's scheme, and now we are paying him peanuts. Where is your head

Thank You! Someone else has common sense. This is such a solid move. GMan well done sir.

I remember a play years ago in the red zone where a RB absolutely trucked Godfrey and ran right over him. If someone can find that play, replace the RB with a smiling Dave Gettleman, then make it a gif, I will give you pie and paypal you $1. It's not much, but I'll come through with it.

Edit: it was Peyton Hillis in 2010. Found a video. Offer still stands.

I think he will be our nickel back. I really think he could end up being a good CB. I believe this could help solve our CB issue if he can prove himself as a corner. Now I still would like to see us draft a CB in the 5th-7th round.

http://overthecap.com/2014-rookie-pool-estimates.php

According to the above link, the Panthers could (due to estimations) need the following to get their rookies signed for Training Camp:

For the 7 picks

YEAR ONE POOL: $4,609,283

CAP SPACE REQUIRED: $1,669,283

SIGNING BONUS ALLOCATION: $6,677,132

I'm not sure what to think about it all to be honest. I thought I had ti figured out, but then re-looking at it, it just started to confuse me. (I think I'm just too tired at the moment)

Anyone else wanna take a crack at it?

    • After last season, it was the same question. And the answer most people came to was "If he doesn't make the playoffs, he's gone." He made the playoffs. No matter how it was done, we made it to the playoffs. He's safe. He's going to have a chance to keep working this out, even if next season isn't a playoff one.  I think we'll do better next year than we did this season. There's something being built here.
    • The NBA is a very fickle league. Kon is one of the hottest rookies in years and beyond just his play on the court he is a very steady competitor and that translates to the rest of the team. That has been a glaring absence with the culture of this franchise through the bulk of the LaMelo Ball years that's just being completely blunt and realistic. The enigma of LaMelo Ball is he is entering year 6 and still either red hot or ice cold. We need him to find that sweet spot. Logic dictates the Hornets will want to see this core again next year. But the clock is beyond ticking at this point. It's put up or shut up. Especially considering what the Thunder managed to do recently. I'm hopeful they can keep these wins rolling in and get some much needed playoff experience under their belts which will help substantially.
    • I think as long as the Panthers are competitive with Canales they should keep him. Pepper needs to repair his/the teams image as a place prized free agents aren't hesitant to consider. Just dont do any crazy poo for a few years.
