General Round 1 Draft Talk

Smh a lot of people on this board wanted nothing to do with him after the report he blew off a work out. Said he didn't have a work ethic and was way to raw.

I'm glad we got KB. Dude has been a baller

The front office clearly knew more than the average fan, but in all seriousness how can you not wonder about a prospect blowing off an NFL workout? No different than someone supposedly gunnning for a job at a company and blowing off an interview.

The more apt comparison would be someone interviewing at a ton of companies and know he's going to get picked up by one and worked his ass of already and needs the rest.

Dude was well within his rights as a human to take rest over bending over backwards for someone else.

You don't have multiple workouts and meetings with a player and then just brainfart and forget to draft his awesome skillz. There's a reason Lee fell. and we obviously saw it. I'm so on board with this pick.

What a level headed and wise person. Really, just well done and I look forward to more posts.

A reasonable comparison, but you'd have to include that all of the companies would hear the gist of how the other interviews went. Bottom line is from a fan's limited perspective it didn't look good, but NFL teams do not operate on a fan's information.

KB blew off the workout bc he didn't want to play for that team, plain and simple. Did he blow off our workout? No.

No KB blew off the workout after the guy from Clemson blew out his ACL working out for the Saints.  And if they were smart, I bet a lot of other guys did to.  If you can't see what you want on tape, at the combine, or at the pro day then the scouts or whoever don't know what they are looking for.   I bet in the future you will see a lot of the top prospects refuse to do private workouts for teams.  It cost the guy from Clemson at least 1 round and about $200 -300,000.  Agents notice that.

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
