Benjamin's Combine 40

Mr. Scot

His profile page lists his time at 4.61, but on the tape here he runs a4.59 on his first attempt and a 4.53 on his second.  For a guy his size, that's pretty good.

What strikes me more watching this clip though is how much ground he covers.  Watch the slo-mo and you'll see him covering close to two full yards with each step he takes.  Those big long legs make a difference.

For another perspective,, check this clip...

A little after 1:25, you get to see how it looks when he's running straight at you.  Gives you the same feeling you'd have seeing a freight train bearing down on you.  Even just watching on a computer, I had the urge to dive out of the way.

Looking forward to seeing that in a game for us :)

He really is a physical specimen!  The physical talents are pretty much undeniable, it's the consistency that gets people.  I look forward to the work he does with the coaches during the off season and seeing what he can do in the preseason.  We signed a lot of vets this season for a reason.

But I am totally looking forward to him running over someone!  I hope we get to see that!

"He ran a 4.6 40 at the combine... I don't care." - Mike Mayock

That guy is such a dipshit. After all the hype he built up for Blaine Gabbert, I don't know why anyone here still posts anything he says.

The guy is pretty decent for the most part. Gabbert was probably the biggest mistake of his career.

Not defending the guy but I doubt many could do better.

He's a hype man, that's pretty much it. I don't even know that I'd hold his opinion over the average huddler.

    • The thing I hate about strength of schedule is that NFL teams change so much over a year and past success or failure doesn't really dictate future success or failure
    • Considering you previously struggled to understand BTT despite it being explained in a video, write-up, and multiple replies, I get why this might be a little too complex for you. Happy to clarify again! Just let me know which part tripped you up this time. 😉
    • And, honestly, there's only so much you can attempt to do in the draft. And every draft pick is a roll of the dice. But that's where grabbing a ton of UDFAs, and targeting the best, makes a big difference. Sure, their individual chances of getting a hit here is less, but that shotgun pattern might just hit something.  Right now, we need bulk, partly to rebuild and partly to dilute the deep level of stank that has developed on this team in the last six years. If we're going to rebuild a culture built around culture, accountability and winning, then these UDFAs we bring in each season have to be the wash water that gets out that leftover dirt.  Canales seems to be a smart, culture-first, build up the good ones kind of guy. I like that and I hope he can keep it going here. But he was working against a locker room that had been taught to lose and taught to distrust or ignore coaches. He's got his work cut out for him, still. He does seem to have it moving in the right direction and that's something I was pretty amazed with by the end of last season.
