Gettleman on Boston "He sets a tone, he's a very physical player"

He had 2 coaches, 2 DCs, and he played 3 positions. While I agree with your friend, the defensive scheme was so complex the team did not grasp it until the Miami game, and followed with a 5-game win streak.

Confused players play slow and they make mental mistakes. He had every reason to be confused. He still had 5 interceptions and led the team in tackles.

Watch the combine workouts. The guy is smooth and fast. I think he will be developed slowly and will play fast and confident in due time.

3 head coaches I believe. Butch Davis, Withers, and Fedora.

He's a really good ball hawking safety. Played corner before being converted to safety. My only thing is it seems like he tries to tackle high a lot and drag guys down. That won't worked in the NFL. His tackling needs to improve

pretty sure that we got guys that can help his tackling ability.

For those talking about how much he got burned etc...please remember Carolina was terrible this year, and usually get demolished on defense, and Mike Mitchell couldn't crack the starting lineup of the freaking Raiders and got a large contract after one year with our coaches.

They want a vocal leader, the "Luke" of the secondary basically.  Harper/Decoud will buy him a year or two of developmental time, and be good teachers.

Boston is a tough player to evaluate. Yes, he was a highly touted HS CB coming into UNC, but it was evident early on that he wasn't a CB at the D1 collegiate level. He's similar to Godfrey in that he has a knack for making big plays, but seemingly gets caught out of a position a lot and gives up a lot of big plays. However, like Godfrey, it's tough to say how much of that is on him and how much is him trying to cover for weak CBs. UNC's CBs were downright dreadful. Boston was the only DB on that team that ever showed anything.

That's not really true. Jabari Price was always a solid CB and recently signed as a UDFA.

Like I said in another thread. My friend breaths and sleeps UNC. He said that Boston came in as a highly rated player that never quite panned out. he said that Boston has decent speed and athleticism, but gives up too many big plays over the top. He said that there is no way he would have drafted Boston and could have justified taking James Hurst at that pick, and he would have been a lot happier.

If that's true then this wasn't that good of a pick because giving up big plays over the top was one of our main problems.

1980? Since an ACC title? Churn out so many pro players, but can only win 2 out of 6 bowl games your last 10 years.

That's college ball for you.  100% about $$$ and consistently top heavy every year.  You could say the same thing for pretty much 90% of the field.

    • Like a lot of things in today's economy, market concentration is a huge issue in the vet space. Mars (yeah, the chocolate company) owns roughly half of them with their control of Banfield and VCA as well as numerous smaller chains. Oh, and all that Royal Canon food the vets are prescribing and recommending? Yeah, that's owned by Mars too. Don't even get me started on the racket that is "prescription" dog food and how incredibly uneducated the average vet is on basic pet nutrition. Back to the actual clinics... private equity ghouls who care about literally nothing but profit own another 30%. Now you're down to roughly 20-25% of clinics that aren't under the thumb of Mars or private equity.
    • I just listened to Devil in the Desert.  😳
    • like any profession, a lot of them are very greedy and balloon up bills.  My buddy is a vet.   When he was first starting out he had BIG issues with the vet he was employed with because he was expected to drive up bills.    He now owns his own practice driven by that very reason.  Good man that wants to sleep good at night....doing what he set out to do at a young age (with the same reason in mind, to help animals and people).  But per him, a HUGE % of small animal vets are just gouging the f out of people.  like most things, I want the most mom and pop variety I can find.  The bigger practice, like most businesses, it more likely is owned and operated to make as much money as possible at the end of the day.
