The App State Experiment 2.0, Pressley Moved To WR

Recommended Posts

Well this sounds awfully familiar... 'Former App State Quarterback Moved To Wide Receiver'

According to Bill Voth from the Black and Blue Review, De'Andre Pressley has been moved from cornerback to wide receiver.

Pressley played his college ball at Appalachian State and in 2010 replaced Armanti Edwards as the quarterback of the Mountaineers.

Pressley will be competing with Tiquan Underwood, Tavarres King, Marvin McNutt, Brenton Bersin, Toney Clemons, and Philly Brown for one of the three open roster spots at wide receiver.

At 5'10", 190 lbs: if Pressley were to some how make the squad, he would most likely be backing up slot receiver Jason Avant.

I remember Gettleman mentioning his potential in the same breath as McNutt, King, and Berson. I believe in reference to why we didn't target another WR.

Interesting they also said there were no other position changes, so perhaps this happened much earlier.

He's not exactly a well-known player, it could have easily slipped his mind when he was asked the question.

Voth is one of the best when it comes to reporting, I doubt he would throw this out there if it wasn't legit.

Some differences between AE and Presley:

Presley actually spent a year playing WR when Travares Cadet (Saints RB) beat him out for backup duty to AE, so he has at least some experience at the postion

Presley has more straight-line speed than AE had and as mentioned aboved is definitely bigger than AE is

Presley also spent half his Sr. year playing DB/KR/WR

i'd like to see it work out for him

I also heard it during his post-draft presser but I was wondering who that was. Either DG knows what he is doing or he is trolling us big time.

I just want to see all of the App State fans support Pressley as much as they supported A.E.

Now's your chance, go ahead and pre-order that De'Andre Pressley jersey.

Yeah, not gonna happen. Presley isn't as beloved by App St. fans as AE was. at time, it was a love/hate relationship

hell of an athlete at the QB position who could run the spread option, but couldn't hit the broad side of a barn at times.

he honestly should've been made either a WR or DB from the get go

Like someone mentioned above his body is much better suited for the NFL than A.E.'s was.

Wasn't insinuating it was a mistake, just wondering if they've viewed him as a WR prior to now.

    • Dude, I think I might be having Jarvy withdrawals... I ripped the sleeves off of all of my t-shirts in my sleep last night. Every bite of my Alpha-Bita cereal spelled Seth, this morning. And, I took 7 naps before lunch. I'm losing it guys! Jarvy's Jaunty Band of Jaggoffs are getting more play than he is... smh Team Canada doesn't treasure Jarvis the way he deserves. He should take his band down to Liechtenstein, get a bag of passports, and start his own Olympic team! The raw animal magnetism of Jarvilicious will bring in a handful of NHLers on its own. And, since the IOC believes in collective punishment, he could have his pick of the rookies. Then, just fill out the rest of the roster with the maple blooded great white northerners who couldn't make the top squad. Can't trust this assembled awesomery to just any old Liechtensteinien with a clipboard and a whistle. Gotta bring in a legend worthy of this gold medal gambit. A hockey HOFer with the balls to buck the system and the aura to match our maverick. Huere geil, Vaduz!!! 2030 Gold Medal guaranteed!
    • Tennessee isn't trading a QB on a 2nd round contract that has starting experience.  That's bad business.
    • OT is the top priority as it is both an immediate and future need.  I wouldn't be past trading up slightly to get the guy we want.  You need that rookie contract right now.  Icky is a dead 17.5 million for the season.  Morton is 20+ mil for the season, Hunt is 20+ mil for the season.  There needs to be forward thinking regarding the future.   Caleb Lomu is a left Tackle, he's a solid prospect, he may be the best pick for us now and in the future.  I would seriously consider cutting Hunt after 2026, and let Lomu and Icky fight for the LT job, loser moves inside.  Icky's future may be at guard after this injury anyway.  If Damien Lewis keeps up his level of play he will need to be paid sooner rather than later.  Yosh and BC can be our top two depth OL at an affordable price.  You will need to look at OT again in 2027. Getting an EDGE for the sake of getting an EDGE outside of the top 10 is pretty risky.  I wouldn't be against eyeing someone like Cashius Howell, Derrick Moore, or TJ Parker in the 2nd (even if we trade a future pick to move up) or DDS in the third. I'd love to see us try to sign both Leo Chenal and Matt Millano in FA.   Chenal for the blitzing element we are missing from our LB corps and Millano for his elite coverage.  They could both work in tandem.  Remember, our FO has deep ties to both KC and Buffalo. I love thinking about the draft, but until Free Agency hits, we are clueless.  Looking at the strength of FA and the draft, OL is priority #1, LB #2, and EDGE #3.  We know what happens to Bryce when protection falls apart.
