4 D-linemen on passing downs?

Recommended Posts

I don't want Star out on passing downs, his bullrush was just so damn sick last year and I feel he is only going to get better at rushing the passer. I also want KK in  on 3rd downs, but we now have Ealy and could use him on the inside for pass rushing on passing downs. Will we just rotate and almost never see a "starting" 4 for passing downs or will there be a "game on the line" unit that is our optimal?

I wouldn't mind 5 d-linemen  with Johnson - Ealy - Star - Short - Hardy with T. Davis and Luke behind them, 3 corners and a single deep safety. Just sometimes, to see how devastating it is.

DG actually mentioned that they like Ealy inside.

I think they might go with Hardy - Ealy - Short - Johnson.

I saw someone fussing about how in the hell we could take STAR out.   You have 4 pass rushing specialist in there.   Star can take a break let the rookie have some fun.

I am ok with doing this.

It will probably be determined by different factors.

- opponent's o-line

- mismatches

- where we are on the field and how long X player has been in on current drive (who is fresh)

- how well X player has done done (hot-hand)

Like it has been said, there will be different packages too. There will be different variables though.
