QB intellect in the NFL

QB intellect is very overrated. you dont have to be albert einstein to be a successful QB in the NFL, matter of fact some very booksmart ivy league type QBs were very poor players in the NFL. I am not worried about Cam and his intelligence and just because Brady is a hall of fame doesnt mean he is some super genius either,

your ability to memorize and retain information and then read/react and apply concepts to real world situations takes an incredibly high IQ, imo...

And requires a bit of both book smarts and visual IQ..

I'd agree with this. To be a good QB, I'd think the ability to make good decisions very quickly would be more important than just general learning ability or book smarts. Isn't there a guideline out there that if a QB holds the ball for 3 seconds in practice, it's considered a sack? That requires quick thinking.

I don't think IQ matters that much as a QB - or as a football player in general.

Work ethic is probably more important. Not a lot of time to think through a situation anyway. You need to be instinctive, with a natural response to what's going on around you. That takes time in the film room and practice field. A good coach will also prepare a player for as many game-time scenarios as possible - with copious amounts of repetition.

that would involve intellect.  and retaining a playbook and film study is a HUUUGE part of being a QB which involves learning ability and book smarts..

being extremely smart doesn't mean your subject matter must consist of quantum physics.  But most QBs can't come in and learn a playbook at the rate Cam was forced, especially without a wristband.  Tom Brady's ability to see and diagnose does make him some sort of genius because very few can do what he does..  very few.

He's either racist or a dumbass when it comes to the NFL....I encounter this all the time with strangers...they talk in such absolutes like they know what they are talking about and 9 times out of 10 can't even name 3 offensive linemen on their own team they are supposedly die hard fans of...

I've learned to not talk football with people like this at all cost...The Huddle as a whole is much more football saavy than most football fans I encounter in the real world
