WFNZ update

The Pulse is ok, they don't get caught up in all the bullshit minutia that WFNZ does. WFNZ could seriously do a 16 hour marathon broadcast on a Cam Newton press conference or towel on the head. They have no problem putting trolls on air that come off as racist and ignorant. I haven't heard that from the pulse.

I love the Mac Attack, but Mac will read these emails from guys that are really just laying it on thick with their negativity. No one could go through life as negative as some of the e mailers he reads daily.

Liked what I heard of them, but it was all basketball talk. That's important to many but not me.

I need to hear them talk football.

Yeah they were only talking Hornets when I was listening.

That's him. He was pretty good.

Couldn't tell you much of anything about his background or qualifications but I liked what I heard of him.

Len and Colin co-host a Sunday morning show during football season in which they review the college games from the day before and preview the NFL games. I have no idea if they do the show in the off-season because I was only in the car that early when I was heading toward the stadium on game days.

I enjoyed their show and think he should at least get a look if he's still around.

It wasn't all basketball.  They had an interview with Smitty and Joe Person.  Kinda hope they stick around.  Not sure if it was a one time thing or not.

Well the NBA is in the conference finals and the Hornets were just big lottery winners while the NFL is currently in a lull. Makes sense.

Didn't get to hear that part.

I understand why.  No issue with that.  Just saying I'm primarily a football guy so I'd need to hear them talk football to get a better idea how good they are.

What I did hear though was infinitely better than Jeff Reed (or Marc James for that matter).  If FNZ hires Jeff Reed for that spot I might just deprogram the station from my radio.

I notice that every couple months the quality of local “Sports Talk Radio” comes up on this board. I just wanted to offer a little different perspective.

Presently I live in the beautiful town of Bryson City, NC with 1 local radio station. (Gospel/Bluegrass) I was born, raised, and lived in Charlotte until age 40 and took a job in Western NC.

Still have family in Charlotte, so when in town, I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to listen to free “over the air” radio discussing the Carolina Panthers. (AM 610 and 730)

My point is that fans living in Charlotte have a simple opportunity that the rest of us don’t necessarily have. (Good or Bad)

    • To kick this up, The Athletic has a really comprehensive piece out where pretty much all QB questions are addressed. It is worth seeing.  https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7083539/2026/03/04/starting-quarterback-projections-free-agency-draft/?source=user_shared_article I’m putting something specific here but it should have a thread or something. It is an extensive exercise.  This is a dense write up with a lot of column inches used, about the Jets and Murray and Reich, all this stuff.. then it goes to backup QB and there is Dalton.  I am pasting that part: As for Dalton, Reich is installing the offense he was trying to run in Carolina in 2023 before he got fired, and Dalton was with the Panthers then; he’s an ideal option as a veteran backup to replace Taylor. Reich said this about Dalton in 2023: “The way he's throwing the football, the way he works through progressions, the way he handles the operation. … Since day one (when) he walked in the door, I'm like, 'This guy is starter-worthy.' You guys know I've said that all along. He's, in my opinion, one of the best 32 quarterbacks in the world.” ——— That’s true love lol. I never heard any of this. Pretty crazy I think, considering how the year went.   Anyway the dream is not dead. .
    • The Seahawks traded for wide receiver/returner Rashid Shaheed at the trade deadline. He proved to be a key acquisition. Shaheed returned a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns in the regular season and had a 95-yard kickoff return in the postseason. Shaheed, though, is scheduled for free agency. So, the 12 games he played, including the postseason, might be the extent of his time in Seattle. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Shaheed and the Seahawks are not close to an extension, and the expectation is that the two-time Pro Bowler will hit free agency. Shaheed has 153 receptions for 2,243 yards and 12 touchdowns in his four-year career to go along with three punt return touchdowns and a kickoff return touchdown. He ranks 13th on PFT’s top-100 free agents. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/report-rashid-shaheed-appears-headed-to-free-agency
