Roman Harper "Pats practice just like everyone else"

Had a feeling after Harper signed that he was gonna be another Mike Mitchell type (i.e. fans who hated him as an opponent would like him as a Panther).

This is the kind of thing that lends to that.

Who hated Mitchell?

Who hated Mitchell?

Quite a few people disliked Mike Mitchell.

Mitchell had a questionable hit (it was close to being a late hit) on Cam in that game against the Raiders in 2012 when the Raiders were allegedly trying to take out Cam after Hardy and Johnson annihilated Carson Palmer.

The difference is, Mitchell proved he can play. Harper still has to do that before fans start to like him, or "respect" him.

So Harper put an obvious cheap-shot on Smitty. Cheap-shot's happen every game, so who cares. Harper is working hard to earn respect, and he has it with me. Dude is like a mirror image of Mitchell signing here last year (when everyone hated him for his attitude, cheap-shot on Cam, etc) and he flourished.

Bold prediction: Harper gets back to his pro-bowl form playing behind our front 7.

Shockey.............I am liking this guy the more I hear from him.  Hated him as a Saint,  but he is a true team first type of player.  Even if he is a little dirty.

it does sound familiar, doesn't it?  always fascinating to see how we perceive players differently once they switch jerseys

If the other guys on the team like him that's all that matters. Mitchell and Cam got their differences sorted out in about 3 seconds.

Have you seen what the Saints fans are saying about Harper? He's old, washed up, couldn't keep up with their "awesome" defense. Give the guy a home for a few years I'm sure he's a good guy. He loaned me $20 just the other day.

Mike Mitchell- cheap shot, tons of upside and athletic ability..performed real well in limited starts. Like

Harper- cheap Shot, was too old three seasons ago, played horrible bc of limited and diminished athletic ability. Do not like.

Doubt I will be swayed otherwise.

    • Yes, he's a tier above them, but you also touched on the money side of it.  With T-Mac locked in as our #1 on a rookie contract for a few more years, I'd much rather use that money that would be needed for DJ on our defense and develop Coker into our #2.   Especially given his contract situation as an UDFA, as his contract is up at the end of this year but we can keep him around for a 3rd team controlled year on the real cheap.  Which means we probably could get him to sign a very reasonable extension this offseason to give him a little more money while giving us a bargain contract for what he provides. DJ's contract is north of $20 million for the next 5 years, why pay that for your #2 WR with the needs we have on defense and you have guys like Coker, XL, and Horn on rookie contracts who very well could combine to be a serviceable 2-4 WRs behind a stud in T-mac? I love DJ and he'd be a great fit on this team as our #2, but the money side of it just makes absolutely zero sense, that's all it comes down to for me on this one. And no, I don't see the Bears wanting XL back in that trade, because they drafted Burden, who is essentially a better version of what XL provides, a player you want to get the ball into their hands and let them go to work.
    • I didnt see that many bad calls in the panthers cowboys game, but the chiefs especially in the playoffs were getting every single call they could get then the refs when it didnt matter would throw a call towards the other teams.  That I believe was the taylor swift effect.   But its crazy just thinking about how easy it is to change a game.  You dont need but a single ref to make a few close calls go towards one team over the other and in the nfl that is the game.
    • I don't think it's unrealistically blaming Bryce Young......to say has been a reason, sometimes a big one, in why our pass offense overall has been extremely week over the past 3 collective seasons.  I think that bothering anyone, is just being overly invested in some Bryce Young argument.  It's just a reality.
