Incurable mosquito-transmitted virus spreads to NC

NORTH CAROLINA — 

A new mosquito-transmitted virus for which there is no known cure has spread to four states, including North Carolina.

The Center for Disease Control is worried it could soon become as prevalent in the United States as the West Nile virus.

There have been 41 reported cases in the United States so far. Florida has been the hardest hit area, and other cases have been reported in Tennessee and Rhode Island.

“There’s no vaccine for it, there’s nothing else you can really do but avoid mosquito bites,” said Ture Carleson with the Memphis and Shelby County Vector Control.

More than a dozen Caribbean nations are dealing with an estimated 100,000 cases. Travelers from those countries are bringing it to the United States.

The symptoms begin three to seven days after the mosquito bite and usually last for one week. They include fever, headache, rash and severe joint pain in the hands and feet.

Here in the DR it is pretty bad. Not something you want to get. horrible body aches and a high grade fever. Lasts up to ten days.

Well we went to go look at a kitten tonight in Gastonia. Which is a poo hole btw, never spent much time there. Anyways me and my son got bit like 10-15 times. I wasn't expecting to be outside, but they brought the kittens out instead of us going in. 

 

edit: I now have a bottle of off in my car. God I hope we don't get this.

Get a pro to come out and spray. Then pay attention to water/puddles etc for them to breed. Use a small fan on your deck to disrupt them flying. And maybe use repellent. But never ever use Deet over 30.

I buy Spectricide for my backyard you hook to your water hose and spray everything down it does stop many flying insects. I couldn't come outside last year till I bought it and now I can enjoy me backyard.
