Good Cam interview

A few classic Cam'isms in there.

GG: Favorite spots in Charlotte for food and fashion?

CN: We have a very incredible mall, South Park Mall. They have many of high-end stores.

I am a foodie myself; I don’t eat meat so that kind of limits a lot. There is actually a place in Charlotte called “Bean,” a vegetarian-vegan place, and there is a burger made from seasoned soy. If you bite into it, you cannot tell me that I’m not eating a double cheeseburger with bacon. I would advise you not to open it, because it looks kind of sketchy, but close your eyes and eat it—oh my god—it tastes extremely well done.

GG: What’s blasting in your headphones before hitting the field?

CN: It all depends on the time. It’s the calm before the storm; I am a big advocate of that. I am very religious, and having my faith in being a Christian and also playing on Sundays, I have to bring in some type of gospel music to get my mind right.

As I am getting taped, going through therapy right before I take the field its kind of like the real soft motivating music that makes me think or visualize what I am expecting to do that day. When I actually go out on the field not with the team but for my own repertoire, its straight killin music—rock & roll to rap and hip hop to something that’s upbeat, fresh and urban mainstream.

GG: Favorite musicians?

CN: Diddy is going back to Puff Daddy now! He has some great music that’s coming out. Obviously Meek Mill, him and I have been partnering up. I am from Atlanta, so I can’t go far without hearing southern music from Jeezy, T.I., Gucci Mane, 2 Chainz, Future, the list goes on.

One of my core sponsors is Beats by Dre and I have the luxury to have great equipment while I am listening, so whether I am playing Adele, Lenny Kravitz, Beyoncé, Rihanna or Katy Perry, its blasting at a high volume.

Really great message.

It’s embarrassing that with me going out and finishing my college education, I find out that college drop out rates are at an all time high. Just with that same fact you find it’s an all time high of childhood obesity. By the time most kids hit the age of 10, they are about 5-10 pounds overweight. And now, with the society that’s a different breed where Instagram, Twitter, reality TV, Playstation and Xbox are having these kids hypnotized as well as the adults–it is consuming everyone’s time.

"I AM TRYING TO HELP THESE KIDS REALIZE THAT WITHOUT EDUCATION, THERE IS NOT A LOT YOU CAN DO. BUT WITH EDUCATION, THERE IS PRETTY MUCH NOTHING THAT YOU CAN’T DO."

I am trying to empower them to get out, eat healthy as well as stay healthy.

    • yeah, Steve was basically like on any actual topic that approached his flaws/problems.....89 went with the long winded, try to sound like a wise man strategy of just basically just pleading the 5th (and sprinkling in the idea that others could of been wrong or wrong too).   also, in terms of the assaults and stuff like that....it feels like old 89, I feel has sort of forgotten his well-documented confessions and apologies about that aspect and era of his and was trying to re-write his story/image in hindsight.   And in all honesty, it seemed like a PR move on the twitter/cheating stuff also attempting to play himself as not the bad guy some think with the intentional vague suggestions. and the Pivot and all these athlete moves to basically take the reigns and power from traditional outlets exposes they have just as bad as flaws if not more often than the traditional media folks.  I mean I do like the free form long talk when dudes are telling stories but all this stuff is largely flawed and controlled PR often.
    • Sadly, I agree and I’m a huge Melo fan. Might be time to ship him out. Don’t want to make the same mistakes the Pels did. They should’ve gotten rid of Zion two years ago.
    • I forgot he was on the team and I'm pulling for him, but the statistics are not in his favor.  Some guys can recover from injuries and others cannot and let's hope Brooks is the former.  He was a beast in high school and college.
