advice from hulddle filmmakers

So I know a lot of you all here are really into film and wanted your advice.

My nephew wants to purse a career in the film industry but there really isn't much of industry in SC as far as I know. His grades are great, he's working on his associates degree to transfer to a local university. I can tell his current major is not what he wants to do and we've been talking about his dreams I hate to see him starting his life doing something he doesn't feel really enjoy, at the moment he can't move out of state  so I don't really know what to tell him.

any of you more experience in this have any advice?

Moving out of state or going to film school isn't really required especially in this day and age. Tell him to try and finish his ass degree and do the movie thing as a hobby for now. Then address the subject again down the road if he wants to transfer or whatever. If he can keep his grades up then finish school so at least you have something.

way to encourage him to chase what he's passionate about. most people just go "hurf durf go to business school son it's more realistic" and unwittingly create generations of zombies who wish from their cubicled prison cells that they'd actually pursued their dreams before they were suddenly 45

SZ dex and pstall are prob gonna be your best bets for different elements of the industry (and i think yourmaninamsterdam does media-related work but i could be wrong.)

I love when the business degree grads try to tell me they've had calc when it's really calculus for business.

But this sounds like when I was in school they pushed business and liberal arts degrees while fuging over vocational training and science degrees.

tell him to make sure he trims the bush...will make the deck look bigger if you know what I mean!

he has to be open to do what they want, even if that means the occassional fatty or man/man scene.

other than that, good luck!

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
