Gordon Hayward to visit Hornets next week.

Cho and MJ gotta speed this crap up!

Either give an offer to Hayward now or it's really time to bring Lance in. Waiting for Hayward could lead us to missing our on Lance. Many teams are interested in Lance as days passes.

Did you just completely miss what has transpired over the last 24 hours?

I was all for Lance, too, but bringing him in at this juncture is pouring salt on a wound. Let's take care of the talented guy who needs guidance currently on the roster first.

Assuming he can stay out of trouble, I like him but would love him more as a 6th man in his first two years.

With McRob gone we need a floor generator badly. Lance is that guy and can run the PnR as good as anyone.

I don't think McBob could emotionally handle the team not being called the Bobcats anymore.

i do not want pj coming off the bench unless we have a 18+ ppg very good SG (who stretches the floor) to start in place of PJ.

Well rather you want it or not it's going to happen. No way PJ starts at the beginning of the season nor should he. And it is not just about ppg and spacing, Lance also is more active, a better passer, and a better defender. Not to mention proven it at an NBA level.

I love PJ too and think he can be really good, but this team's goal is to win NOW, not to develop PJ. Obviously best case is if these happen simultaneously, he could be an awesome 2nd team spark this year and slowly gain 1st squad minutes.

He will get his chance.

We must be like the only organization to bring in a high caliber free agent, wine and dine him and not hear anything about how it went bc of rick frigging bonnell.

Like seriously dude u get paid to be a fan of a team and report it. I would give my left and right nut sack to be in your position and have the clearance u get. And be able to cover and give leads and breaks in stories. But no all u can do is be a POS smart a** to fans over twitter. Just retire and go away. Like far away

Assuming we do not sign Lance I see Hendo starting with PJ clearly outplaying him by midseason forcing a change from Clifford.

He is too good to be sitting behind the likes of Hendo.

He had a PER of 20+ at UNC and averaged 20+ in the DL.

Some of you people just dont understand. Dude is a baller.

Given 20+ minutes this dude could average 15ppg in his sleep right now.

There's always an adjustment when entering a new league and level of play. Did you see how ugly PJ's play was his freshman year at UNC? No doubt the dude is going to be a good NBA player, but I think he comes off the bench the whole year, especially with Cliff's philosophy on vets. I'd love to be wrong.

    • Congratulations do they know who the father is?
    • In my opinion Fitterer was probably right about not paying McCaffrey. Now not wanting to "pay RBs" in my opinion isn't something you want to set in stone, to me it all comes down to the individual.
    • Maybe I'm just not understanding, but everywhere that I have read says that signing bonuses go against the cap prorated by as much as five years. The following example uses Andrew Luck's rookie contract as an example. "Take Andrew Luck, the first overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft. Luck signed a four-year contract with the Colts worth $22.1 million and included a $14.5 million signing bonus. Rather than a $14.5 million cap hit in 2012, the Colts spread out his signing bonus over the life of his contract. The hit against the cap would be $3.625 million per year over four years instead of a direct cap hit of $14.5 million directly in 2012. This gave the Colts more leverage and cap flexibility in signing other players." https://www.the33rdteam.com/nfl-signing-bonuses-explained/ I don't know why some of you think that signing bonuses aren't counted against the cap over the length of the contract, but whatever.   "The bonus with a signing is usually the most garish aspect of a rookie contract. Bonus is the immediate cash players receive when they ink a deal. It factors into the cap, but only for the whole contract duration, in terms of salary cap calculations. In the case of Bryce Young’s $24.6 million signing bonus, that’s prorated to approximately $6.15 million per season over a four-year deal. This format allows teams to handle the cap and provides rookies with some short-term fiscal stability, which is important given the high injury risk in this league." https://collegefootballnetwork.com/how-rookie-contracts-work-in-the-nfl/ I understand how signing bonuses can be a useful tool in order to manage the cap, and as one of the article suggests, signing bonuses may become important if you have a tight cap, but the bill is always going to come due. I'm not necessarily referring to you Tuka, but it seems to me that others simply don't want to understand that fact which is why they're reacting to what I'm saying negatively. How odd. In any event, I have a better general understanding of why signing bonuses are used now, and it's generally to fit salaries under the cap. Surely players, whether they be rookies or not, love a signing bonus because they get a good portion of their money up front. This in turn gives them more security and probably amounts to tax benefits as well. I also understand why teams would not want to use signing bonuses, particularly for players or draftees who have a higher probability of being gone before a contract even ends.
