When a persona overtakes reality...a.k.a..the Kraken

I'll  be honest with you. Hardy is Crazy we all know that. But I don't think he was living out his life as "The Kraken" when it came to this girl. He just saw a warm wet hole when he looked at her and she was crazy. That's the story of a lot of athletes.

I think if he "Released the Kraken" on her she would have ended up in the hospital or worse. He just dipped his pen in the wrong ink.

Smitty got into a heated altercation on the sidelines with a team mate during practice....Hardy was convicted of assault and battery on a female.

Not even CLOSE to the same thing.

If you are talking in terms of the Panthers won’t re-sign Hardy because they don’t like the ‘look’ of the situation or the PR of it then, yes, it is the exact same as the Steve Smith situation.

As far as long-term plans, I think Hardy has enough talent that it's "complicated".

I know the charges against Hardy are serious, but to compare them in any way to Carruth is absurd.

Fact is, teams (including the Panthers) are willing to put up with much more drama from a player with Hardy's talent.

Ray Rice is still a Raven, right?

Ravens are Ravens, and Panthers are the Panthers.

Not the same players, not the same coachs and not the same owner.

I would be sad if we are loosing Hardy, but you can't act like this as a Panthers.

JR is still the sheriff in town and i trust his decision anyway.

He got convicted of assault and communicating threats. Not battery.

BIG difference. But I agree with your thought process.

Any guy with half a brain just has to know that you cant come out a winner if you hit a woman. Tough rep to overcome even if verdict goes your way. Walking away still is the best move.

Not complicated.  He's gone.  Some teams will put up with this (Raiders) but not Panthers.  They want a squeaky clean organization.  Plus Kony was drafted, Frank still possible talent etc.

Who compared this to Carruth?  That is absurd.  A bruise and death are slightly different things.

    • when we drafted Bryce Young that team might have been more talented than the team we currently have ?  that was the whole reasoning behind morgagting  our immediate future to trade up to #1 overall for BY. our front offices & owners felt like hey guess what the time is now to srike while the iron is hot go hire an All Star coaching staff we were only a Qb away from taking that next step ..just saying
    • I just dont get the worry over losing a practice squad player that just went undrafted. Everyone just made their selections. The chances of a team wanting to sign him to an active roster after not selecting him is very low.  If that interested they would have taken him late to evaluate in person. As far as I can tell two qbs were signed off another teams practice squad last season and they were both going in to their 5th season.
    • I enjoyed reading this thread and the usual banter that follows. The only silver lining I can identify right now is we do actually have a couple of young QB's behind him and we do have a nice roster on both sides of the ball built around the most important position. So if the team overall shows some promise but we still falter largely due to a lack of consistent passing output (again) hopefully the decision makers can be free to make the best decision for the team going forward after the conclusion of this upcoming season.
