For Years Ive Tried to Care About the Saints As a Rival, but I cant.

I know what you mean. The super dome is so poorly lit that unless the panthers are playing, it hurts my eyes and makes me sleepy when one of their games is on.

i don't think i've actually hated tampa bay since the mid 2000s or so.  we've humiliated them so many times over the years and racked up so many sweeps in the series it's hard to keep track.  even when they swept us in 2012 it didn't really bother me.

there's no sapp or keyshawn or really any player that's easy to hate on that roster and there hasn't been for years.  the bucs have basically no bandwagon, no shrill 24/7 media coverage, and it always seems like they just fired their head coach and are starting over with a new quarterback.

the saints are the absolute worst though.  i don't see how anyone could dispute that.

The way I see it, in the NFC south there are two swords (falcons saints) and two shields (panthers bucs) it's a constant battle between force and defense, the rival of the panthers is the saints with the falcons and bucs fighting it out in their own right, the falcons and saints are sister teams, the same can be said of the bucs and panthers and as siblings their rivalry is different but just as ferocious anyways that's my thought on the subject.

It all goes back to who's relevant at the time. I hate the Falcons whether they're winning or losing. But right now I'd say the hate for the Panthers is greater, because they had the better year. No one hates the Bucs because they've been losers forever, sans a Super Bowl run.

It all depends on what team you have to get past in order to take the division. Mid 2000s it was the Bucs, for a brief moment it was the Falcons and since Brees got to New Orleans it has been the Saints. The overblown Katrina "underdog" narrative and the bandwagon that resulted because of it adds fuel to the fire in addition to Bountygate.

Saints game at home this past year was on a different level than Bucs and Falcons for a reason.
