The Huddle Contributor Program

So I have been thinking a bit about something and need to gauge interest.

I know some other sites ask for fans to write up content, promise to pay, and never do.

What if the Huddle were to accept contributions from fans for publishing on the front page (which gets a ton of views now).

But instead of getting paid by the huddle, contributors would set up their own donations button through paypal. That way if the readers enjoy a certain contributor, they can kick them a dollar directly.

It is the perfect free market solution. Whoever provides the best content gets the most donations.

Thoughts?

If we don't like the content can we get a dollar back?

j/k.... I like the idea and I like the idea of getting multiple new contributors to pop their cherry.  There is a hidden Peter King inside some of these huddlers.  [edit:  bad example]

What's the process?  Do contributors write something and message to you?

I am sure some folks already have a portfolio of stuff they have written for other sites or school or what have you.

The huddle staff could maybe review and approve new contributors?

Good idea, but I suspect the contributors will get very very little in donations. I'm not saying this is fair, but no one wants to pay for anything on the Internet any longer.

I only mention this from a perspective of setting expectations for your contributors. I think most would do it for free just to get recognized.

Just my two cents.

I like the idea. Maybe the donations could be to whatever charity deangelo has for late mother. I know it's for breast cancer but didn't know if it was for a specific foundation he created.

I don't think donations need to go to a charity. People should be rewarded for the hard work they put into articles. If the writer wants to donate to charity, thats up to him/her. Its not like contributors are high paid athletes.

    • Been here since middle school right when it started around 2003 after the charlotte.com one. Living outside of Carolina it was tough to find good Panthers content, news or analysis. And no one to talk to about it. This place gave me a lot though I don’t often post. In the later days, I particularly Loved PhillyB’s write ups. They were fire. Too bad I go let it go. I appreciate the hell out of @MHS831 @TheSpecialJuan @Jackie Lee and others who have been posting great content and keeping this place worth coming back to. Particularly during the offseason. Appreciate y’all!
    • Nice explanation, but I was just messing with you. Thought that would be obvious. I dont have the energy to keep on trolling. Last season I compared our situation with Bryce as a potential Alex Smith, but what we should be looking for is our version of Mahomes. Some people will read that as one sentence, to me that single sentence is equivalent to a half A4 explanationf of the teams pathway forward.
    • I dont know how much of his salary would come across and how much a trade would cost but I feel Kmet would be the sort of TE Canales and Morgan would like
