#Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin says no problems with the knee today. Picked up where he left off.

Kelvin Benjamin felt “great” today. “I just really wanted to get out there and get a connection going w/me & Cam.” #Panthers

KB: “I never had a problem w/my knee other than when I hit that ground & it swelled up the next day. The next day after that, it was great.”

Good lord, we don't even need Ealy this year if we stay healthy. In my eyes, he's got two and a half to three years to learn. Lots of good lineman ahead of him at this point. He will be counted on at some point, but not this year.

Jonathan Jones ‏@jjones9  3s
Benwikere 2/2. Cason 1/2 and one peter call. Brown 2/2 with one peter call.

and I don't know what a peter call is...I do, but pretty sure it means something different in this circumstance.

peter is used when there is a short punt, and lets the guys on the field know the punt  is short. they have to find the ball, and get away from it.

Just pointing it out, he had some drops at FSU, was wondering if he has been working on his hands, or if our DB's aren't covering well.

BTW, I love KB and hope he can be a terror in the red zone.

from what i have been hearing, our entire defense has been balling out. the problem for the defense is that our offense has also been balling. those two facts put together make me extremely excited. the defense is contesting EVERYTHING and picking off alot of passes, even well thrown passes. but the offense has also able to drive on our stout D.

does anyone have any training camp stats or are those not kept track of?

Noooooo CJ

Looks like defense ahead of offense

And the two ones impressing the most, is 2 rookies. Kelz and Bene

Defenses are always ahead of offenses early in the year, even into the first part of the regular season.

So if the offense was driving at will against our D this early in camp, it would be cause for concern.

im not worried at all. he is just a few months removed from surgery. its gonna tweak him once in a while. besides, he is still throwing bombs to players, especially to Benjamin. no... Cam is demonstrating that he will be just fine. im not worried at all.

You realize that he is going to actually have to be running for his life in 5 weeks.  None of this no contact stuff .

Its  easy to get lulled into thinking everything is coming up peaches and cream in training camp.  But as a past coach said.

The Other Team Practices Too !

the only ones not experiencing contact at the moment are the QBs. everyone else is playing, and from the looks of it, it looks like they are playing like they would in a game. to this point, i havent heard much about our stoud D getting to Cam. a few times here and there. but not regularly.

you make this out to be doom and gloom with your statement "running for his life" but so far it doesnt seem like Cam is having to do much of that. im not lulled into thinking anything. i realize Cam will soon be in games, and those games will be intense. but to get concerned about Cam's ankle being alittle painful at times, only a few months removed from surgery, is foolishness. its gonna hurt the guy. thats expected. but to ignore his OBVIOUS and RAPID recovery, demonstrated by outstanding performance on the field, is doom and gloom that i just wont buy into man.

not upset. i just think you need to stop ignoring the proof that Cam is giving us that he will be just fine

    • I think the book has been fairly written on Darnold, and by and large stays true. He can be rattled by pressure, and will lose his composure. If a team can get to him and have something go wrong in the plan, the mistakes and errors will pile up. Rams have a better offense, Seahawks sport a better defense. Should be a good 1.
    • Not a defense of him...an understanding of the problem. (something you seem to be lacking right now) 🙄 Bryce in a Canales offense is not an example of a stylistic mismatch, but I can give you one if that helps. When he was playing for the Panthers, Cam Newton sat under OC's running Coryell type offenses. Newton had a big arm and was a strong runner. He fit into that sort of attack very well. Then he goes to New England, where at the time they were running an Earhardt-Perkins system (similar to WCO In a lot of what they do but very different terminology). The Patriot offenses back then were heavily based on timing and rhythm style passing, not something that Newton was especially well suited for. So he washed out at New England, not because he had poor ability (his abilities had been on display here on a regular basis) but because he didn't fit what they wanted to do with their offense. I always go back to Jeff Garcia as one of the prime examples of this issue. Garcia in a WCO looked like a world beater. Put him in any other scheme though...yikes!  So again, Young's issues here have nothing to do with any failure to mesh with Canales. Hell, is say Canales has actually done pretty well at adapting his system to who he has rather than trying to jam square pegs into round holes. Again, it doesn't take an elite level of football knowledge to get this. It's pretty basic. But if you're not even capable of understanding what the real problem is, how are you going to know you to find the right solution? 🤔
