I also don't think that Kugbila and Presley have been injury waived yet. Do they count at this point?

Kugbila was waived, resigned, and placed on IR.  Presley was put on PUP list.  They do not count towards the roster at this point.

Thank you sir. But wait, Wouldn't that put us at 78 players then? I thought we had 88 and dropped 10. What am I missing?

We brought in a couple of o-linemen in their place.  We had 90 up until we traded Barner.  SInce it was so close to the deadline, they didn't bring in anyone to replace him.  So, we were at 89 before the 10 were dropped.

Color me shocked that Kugbilla made it through waivers.

Check the team's page. There are 78 on the roster if you don't count Ed or Presley.

Was just talking about this one.

My picks:

Regis: DT (we have 8 DT's)

Walker: DT

Glanton: LB

McNeill: TE

I agree with all except McNeill. I think he at least makes this cut. Also how bad was his injury from the last game? I didn't watch the blowout preseason game this week so idk if he even played this week.

Maybe they're missing someone?  Not 100% sure, but this is what they're reporting, and they said previously that trading Barner took the roster to 89.

CHARLOTTE – Wide receivers Tiquan Underwood, Marvin McNutt, Kealoha Pilares and Toney Clemons are among the first Panthers roster cuts.

"We have some young (receivers) that we feel have to get a lot more reps – Philly (Brown) being one of them," head coach Ron Rivera said. "Having some of the other guys in cut into rep time.

"This is what we believe is in the best interest of the football team."

Carolina waived six players in addition to the aforementioned receivers.

Below is a complete list of Sunday's roster moves.

RELEASED: WR Tiquan Underwood 6 Rutgers
WAIVED: WR Toney Clemons 1 Colorado, P Jordan Gay 1 Centre, DT Linden Gaydosh 2 Calgary, DE Alex Hall 4 St. Augustine's, T Oscar Johnson 1 Louisiana Tech, WR Marvin McNutt 2 Iowa, LB Anthony Morales R Weber State, WR Kealoha Pilares 4 Hawaii, DE Craig Roh 1 Michigan

The Panthers now have 79 players on the roster. The team must cut four more players by 4 p.m. on Tuesday to reach the 75-man limit for the first roster reduction.

All clubs must reduce their rosters to a maximum of 53 players for the regular season by 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 30.

I think that they have to be counting Presley on the Active/PUP list as the 79th.

He does count.  Sorry, I had my mind on the regular season designation.  If they're on the preseason Active/PUP list they still count against the roster.  Once the season starts, and the player still isn't medically cleared, they can designate them to Reserve/PUP.  At that point, they no longer count against the roster.  Apologies for the confusion.

No need to apologize.  They offer master's degrees in this stuff at Strayer.  Hard to figure out.

    • He’s been every bit as much of the problem as anyone else. You cant remove him from that fact, he is just as much part of the team and in THE most important position on the field. But this is the first season he’s seen any kind of continuity in his team and coaches. And he’s shown flashes here and there. But we do need more out of him going forward a lot more if we are going to be successful
    • Bryce isn’t great and super mid. But I think can be a game manager. What do we think is out there? Daniel Jones isn’t going anywher. Mac Jones? Zach Wilson? Pickett. I’m just not sure what’s out there that is much better without having to give up a ton of capital. Rather take one more step closer to contention with our early rounders next year with FS and LB help. Make this  place where dang they got a defense and a WR1 and solid RB room. I can win with that and want to be here
    • AR15 is if Justin Fields was fragile and his teammates hated him. No thanks. Ya'll think you hate watching Bryce Young? Wait until your QB can't even complete a 7 yard pass over the middle, which Fields and Richardson can't do. If the draft class was better, I could absolutely see the Titans moving on from Ward already if they got the #1 pick. But so far the college QB's haven't impressed enough. They'll have flashes, but then follow it up with a very meh game. Kyler is already done in Arizona, but he has a ridiculous contract and he's basically Bryce that likes to scramble, so no thanks. If Lawrence can't produce with that team in Jacksonville, what do you think he'll do here? He's tall Bryce who can throw deep but can't make the 4th down throws and crumbles in the red zone. No thanks. I do think Canales wants to move on from Bryce, his body language says so even in wins. He treated Bryce pretty odd this week and Bryce looked checked out in the Packers game. But unless they make another risky trade, its going to be slim pickings. Basically our hopes lie in hitting early in the draft with a Mateer, Nussmeier, Beck type or finding a random backup free agent that has another gear to hit.  I think even with the draft being wishy washy, 4-5 QB's will be taken in the top 7. A lot of teams are just that desperate.
