When's the last time you got a driving citation?

My 16 year old son got pulled over last week for doing 55 in a 45.  He had just left school and it was going down a hill.  He was not paying attention and was speeding.

Cop pulled him over, but was very cool.  Lectured him for a few minutes and then gave him a warning ticket....he did not want to lose his driving privilege after only having his license for 4 months.

I explained to my son how truly lucky he was....because it is usually women that get warnings from cops.

Was 1992 but got one back in May.  Overtaking a stopped car at a crosswalk.  Couple of things crosswalks are everywhere here. The person in front of me was being a idiot.  It was dark with low lighting was behind them on a 3 lane road with 2 lanes in the direction I was going.  I was behind them due to having to turn right in a few blocks.  Any way get behind this person and they are going 10 mph looking through the back window looked like they was fumbling with something and not driving. So I decided to pass them on the left side as soon as I turn my blinker on they slam the breaks and I have to make a abrasive move.  Knew the crosswalk was coming up but couldnt see anyone.  Well over accelerated and just as I enter the crosswalk see a family of 3 on the sidewalk.  Luckily they had not started crossing or I would have taken them out.  My heart dropped when I saw them and knew I got lucky.  Officer was block behind and pulled me over.  Took my ticket and went to court didnt fight it and paid the fine.

A few years ago on 485 on the way to work (toward Concord).  No one was even near me and I usually know better when I'm all alone out there but I was really tired and was late because I had to take a big dump before leaving the house that came out of nowhere.   I was going like 85 in a 65.  Cop was pretty cool.  He asked me if I knew why I was pulled over and I said "I was totally speeding and not paying attention."  He asked what's the hurry.  I told him late for work because I had diarrehea.  Cop cracked up and told me it's not reckless driving ticket and just to go in there and they'll lower it for me since it was literally my first ticket EVER.   Went to court house on my date and got it dropped to only 7 over.

About 2 years ago driving through some dusty town on the highway. I was doing like 104 in a 75, but he clocked me at 87 or something like that. I could have ended up going to jail that night because I was grossly over the speed limit. Ended up doing the defensive driving thing, and got out of going to court because there was a blizzard that weekend.

1998. My wife took a job in Asheville and I went up to visit on Saturday and had to drive home to Greensboro on Sunday morning. Selling the house by owner and had an open house that afternoon. Back then, I-40 was only 60mph and I was doing 70 at 8AM....

SHP pulls me and before writing me the speeding ticket asks me, "Have you been drinking this morning? Smells like alcohol in here." Mind you, I'm driving a Jeep with the soft top down and nothing but a bikini top over the front 2 seats- open air. I just looked at the guy and said, "It's fugging 8AM, man, are you serious?"

Cost me like $70...

I've had 7 speeding tickets.  But none in about 6 years.

I got pulled over in my town back in 1991, Kernersville, for speeding (5 over), crossing the center line, and swerving.  When the cop pulled me over he asked to see my license and I couldn't find it. The funny thing was is that I had a duplicate made the week before because I lost my original.  He asked why I was swerving and all over the road and if I was in a hurry.  I had my brother with me. My brother is deaf.  It is difficult to drive and do sign language at the same time which caused me to drive like I was drunk.  THe cop asked where I lived and I told him just 5 minutes up the road.  He said , "I'll follow you and you can find your license."  Weird, right?  So I drive home, all the while freaking out because now a police officer is going to be at my house.  I walk in the door and tell my parents a cop is outside and he wants to see my driver's license. I couldn't find it, my parents talked to the cop and I got out of any tickets he might have saw fit to give me.  At 17, I thought my driving life was about to be over and nothing happened.  I thanked my brother for teaching me sign language.

since I got my license in 1996.... none, at least in the US

I did get a speeding ticket in Germany - 75km/hr in a 60. It was complete BS because 1-there are no "reduced speed ahead" sign. it just changes.

2- There was a speed camera right behind the sign posting the speed limit. The polizei was right around a blind curve and waved me over.

for those of you trying to do math in your head, it was like the speed limit dropping from 60 (100 km/hr) to 35 (60km/hr) with no warning. I had slowed from 100 to 75 so I wasn't just blowing through.

I paid the fine on the spot though. I think it was €60 but that was 2006 so I can't remember for sure.

About 2 months ago I got pulled for a seatbelt ticket, paid it off...then got pulled two weeks ago for a cracked windshield by the same cop, not to mention it was in the same exact spot. I live 2 blocks from my job and was running late both times so took my car instead of walked. Even after telling him he pulled me in my jobs parking lot and only being on the road for a minute he gave me a ticket both times, joking with me the entire time. Idk what it is but I can never get out of a ticket.

Few months ago I got a ticket for a suspended registration. Turns out the DMV incorrectly suspended my registration for not having insurance... even though I had insurance.

I expected it to be dismissed immediately but I've been trying to fix this situation for about 3 months now. Numerous trips to the courthouse here and more time talking to the DMV and my insurance company than I care to admit.

Last time I went down and tried to have it resolved, showed proof that I had continuous insurance coverage since 2009, the entire time I've owned the car, with no lapses at all. Also showed papers from the DMV stating the reason why they suspended it was because they believed I didn't have insurance. Judge tells me "well that's not really proof".

Says he will reduce the fine from $369 to $250 since it's no longer suspended. If I go to court and fight it and lose I have to pay over $1,100. I'm not really sure what to do but this situation sucks.
