David Gettleman's Week 1 Reaction

Someone photoshop Gettleman's smug face on that gif.

Gettleman deserves to be smug, he is about to hit retirement (age 63 now) and found some franchise willing to reward him with a GM job after a life of being a high school football coach, scout, guy who works the trade phone on Draft Day, etc.

He openly admits he's new to whole GM thing and he openly admits he has made plenty of mistakes. But he's done as solid a job an any other average joe could do and he'll find us a good GM to replace him in about 2 years when he retires.

LoL at that backhanded compliment & LoL at Dave Gettleman retiring in 2 years. He's an NFL GM, not a factory worker. He's not retiring anytime soon.

Especially with a 25 year old superstar QB & 24 year old LB who's already arguably the best defensive player in the league. Dave had to pay his dues and wait a long time, but it was worth the wait because he hit the jackpot. He's even said as much. The man was beaming from ear to ear talking about how he struck gold.

he will retire. why not? In two years, do you really want some geezer 65-to-70 year old with a few years GM experience before that running our franchise? That doesn't sound like a good recipe

This is the best gif I could find for DG's reaction to week one, especially towards the end with the late drives

3FeUJUe.gif

fun fact about that scene was that it was unscripted/improvised

sad fact about that scene was that Heath Ledger (Brokeback Mountain), who played the clown prince of crime in that movie, died half a year before that movie was released (overdosing on pills)
