Sure it appears as though most of our WRs have exceptional hands, but we need a guy or two who can create some separation and be a legitimate threat on a consistent basis.  We also need someone who will consistently come back to the ball and give Cam some help when things are breaking down.  For all the catches that were made last night, I don't remember seeing one that went for any appreciable amount of yards after the catch except for Olsen's TD catch.  It was kind of suspected that KB wasn't necessarily a stretch the field type of guy, and Avant has never been a YAC specialist (and really Cotchery either). The surprising thing is that Brown failed to really put any distance between himself and the DBs for all the catches that he did make, which to me is a red flag.  Brown looked like a smaller version of Avant and J-Co out there.

 

Now sure, Cam was under duress on more than a few plays, and as a result just looked like he was just over-excitedly trying to get the ball out in order to not get pummeled once again, and I am sure that may have had an effect on my overall judgement, but Cam appeared as though he was searching in vein for that one clearly open safety valve with the second or two that he had free before the pocket totally collapsed. Of course that relates to play calling as well (like the lack of two-TE sets, screens and modified screens underneath the coverage or across the middle of the field, and of course the vertical passes), but I am still not convinced that we have the guys that can get into the open space to fully exploit the over-aggressive defenses.

 

Time for Hill, Seastrunk or someone else to be called up, and B-will to be dialed up.  That, and/or acquiring someone like...uh...Denarius Moore.   

 

On an off note, we probably could have used Tavarres King last night.

As far as Denarius Moore goes, if he is so highly sought after, someone already would have given the Raiders a high pick. He's done poo so far this year. It looks pretty much like there's less than a 1% chance of him playing for Carolina, so it's probably time to let that go already.

 

Our WR situation could be better, but I don't think it's as bad as you are attempting to make it out to be.

 

We had 330 receiving yards last night, the Steelers didn't even crack 200. Our OL, and run game is the concern right now.

I'm actually not as down on our WR group as I was in the offseason. I do think in the draft, we need to go after a guy who can take the top off a defense. I know were 2-1, and it's too early to talk about this but I hope in the draft we go OL 1st, then WR either 2nd or 3rd. I think Philly can be something with this WR group.

This team is still in the process of building. If the Oline doesn't improve and gel, that need will trump WR.

 

It's not like the two are mutually exclusive.  And, at this point we are probably going to be able to acquire a better WR than O-lineman on the cheap, or at last call someone up on the offensive side of the ball who is more likely to have a profound impact upon the game than a patch the O-line. At this point, it appears we need to do both (simultaneously or apart).  

 

As for the draft, if that's what you're referring to, we should all know that G-man is going to pick who he deems as the BPA, regardless of position (choosing instead to fill gaps with relatively inexpensive FA acquisitions and trades).

Yea, after 3 games so far this season, my way too early preference for each round of the draft is OT, OT, WR, S, RB, OL, OL in that order.

And that RB should be a 3 down back, not another little scatback Barner type.

Our G play is weak. People all offseason inked that in as solid. It might be worse than our T play

      I don't think Dave touches the defense. That might be a mark against him but definitely a huge red flag for evero. He refuses to run anything other than soft zone and when you don't get pressure that's an awful scheme

      You don't have to convince me. I think not picking up the option should absolutely be firmly on the table but I just do not see Tepper and Morgan doing that for previously stated reasons. Therefore I'm not going to bother entertaining the notion. Just hoping we actually get real viable competition. If that doesn't happen at the minimum then my perception of that is complete and utter professional malpractice.

      It was absolutely a catch, and I can’t believe how many folks were stating, before the NFL’s apology, that the overturn was the right call.  The ultimate question in this case is this: can a player complete a catch with only one hand? Of course, we all know the answer to that question, and it is an emphatic “Yes.” T-Mac maintained complete control with one hand (believe it was the right) while the other came off when the ball hit the ground. The ball was in the same position in the one hand (watch T-Mac’s fingers in relation to the NFL shield on the ball) after touching the ground as it was when it first went to the ground. Going back to the question above, if one hand can establish control, then there was no need for the other to stay on the ball, so long as the ball doesn’t move in that one hand that stays on it   It blew my mind that they overturned this in the first place. This should not be a “We got it wrong on the replay because there wasn’t clear and convincing evidence.” This should have been, “That was absolutely a catch.”
