John Harbaugh's Advice To Steve Smith: Shock The World

last week is done....so here we go...

The head coach said Steve Smith could ‘shock the world’ by not saying anything during Carolina week.

Steve Smith Sr. has had the Week 4 matchup with the Carolina Panthers circled on his calendar for months.

From the time that the veteran wide receiver signed with the Ravens in March, he’s been answering questions about the eventual matchup with the team he spent 13 seasons with. Now that the game is just six days away, the focus throughout the week will be on the fiery pass catcher gearing up for the much-anticipated showdown.

Ravens Head Coach John Harbaugh was asked Monday about his advice for Smith heading into Sunday’s game at M&T Bank Stadium.

Harbaugh looked into the cameras, noting he thinks Steve would be watching.

“My advice to Steve will be, ‘Shock the world. Surprise everybody. Don’t even say a word the whole game. Go into a shell,’” Harbaugh said with a smile. “But I don’t think he’s going to take that advice.”

Smith, who leads the Ravens with 290 receiving yards on 18 catches, is known for his intensity when he gets on the football field. Facing his old team that cut him after a record-setting tenure with the franchise is expected to bring that emotion and passion to an even greater level.

When Smith signed with the Ravens six months ago, part of the attraction to the franchise was that Harbaugh told Smith, “We want you to be yourself.” Harbaugh and the Ravens know Smith will be fired up for the contest, and he reiterated the message that he delivered to Smith on his very first day in Baltimore.

“I think he’s going to be himself,” Harbaugh said. “Steve knows how to control his emotions. He’s going to be fired up. He’s knows how to channel that. He knows how to focus that the right way.”

We all know it will never happen. I just pray that Norman doesn't somehow end up covering 89.

Actually that would not be so bad.....they will brawl by the end of the first quarter and both can get ejected. It would be a much larger loss for them, we can afford to lose Norman since he doesn't show up much in games anyway.

My thing is let's not get crazy about stopping SS and forget JJones. Special teams better be ready this week!

Let's not forget that the most dangerous playmaker is the other Smith who is being neglected as they force feed balls to 89

    • Not sure who said it first, but Tepper is the correct answer. Still, I'm gonna go with Kasay keeping it inbounds. If, you subscribe to the butterfly effect version of time travel consequences.... When we win SBXXXVIII everybody's lives change: Moose never breaks his leg, We win it all again in 05. Tommy Jone is unknown and Peppers stays home, Champs once more 2008. No artificial pig heart turning JR into a creepy weirdo, no lockout, no Clausen. Fox and Jake ride off into the sunset on their own terms. No 2-14, no #1 pick. But, no laptop, no Blinn, 3 years behind The Golden Calf of Bristol, we still get Cam. JR let's him grow his locs like he always wanted, Smitty sees Cam in a new light. Dreads swinging, (and Smitty with his 3 Lombardis behind him) Cam is old enough to get those calls. No Manning narrative, Cotchery TD, PI against Talib on Philly Brown, 10,000 RTP calls and Kony Ealy SB50 MVP. No Jeans Fridays, no Tepper. KB doesn't slip on his own meatsweat mid-route in SD, Cam becomes the 1st QB to win 10 straight SBs. Retiring after being elected 47th president of the US of A, Cam ushers in the Permanent Proletarian Revolution across the globe, Xi Jinping bows in awe. "ẄøŘƙƐṛ§ őF ŧĤə ŵØRłð, ŮŊÏŦƐ!!!"
    • Yeah your right the owner was copping hand shandies while all this was going down
    • I mean not surprised the Patriots took him in and aren't trying to push him out. They've been the most morally bankrupt team in the NFL for a long while. Wouldn't be surprised if Vrabel has his own dirt on Kraft/Brady and other assholes from that organization over the last couple decades.
