The Identity Of Our Offense

is it contagious? because I'm more worried which run defense personality is going to how up, the lions (70 yards) or the steelers (264 yards).

Cossell also commented on the 80 yard run, saying that both DTs were pushed 3-4 yards from the point of attack, giving the linebackers no chance. Also commented that Decoud took a bad angle.

Can some one differentiate mike martz and air Coryell?

I've never compared the playbooks but they are similar. The one variant I am sure of is the Tight End. Coryell made Kellen Winslow a star in his innovative offense. Martz traded away Greg Olsen to get more Wide Receivers on the field.

But when I think of the Coryell offense I think of the single back with 3 WRs. Maybe 2 TEs and 2 WRs. But the power run is more associated with the fullback.

I wonder if our personnel makes us too predictable. Even if we have 2 running backs in on a passing down, the defense can make assumptions about our protection. Mike Tolbert isn't going to run a wheel route.

That's what I saw too and it shocked the hell out of me. Our d-line was getting pushed around like a JV squad.

Haven't seen that since Fua left. Hope we don't see that again. We are supposed to be a physical team, not finesse.

I think we'd be seeing a whole lot better of an offense if we could magically fix the problem at oline.

We either need to scrap the line and start over or get a new coach in there.

We seem to be back to our 2012 offensive line problem.  Awful communication.  The guys are just not on the same page.  There are missed assignments galore and guys seem to be more worried about the guy next to him rather than the guy in front of him.

It is inexcusable, regardless of talent, that you cannot provide more than 2 seconds of a clean pocket with a three man rush.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
