fuging BAFFLES me

  • Gettleman is cheap for trying to find a balance of building around our franchise QB, as well as paying and keeping our franchise players
  • We have some cap room but the fact we're not burning it right away like Hurney would do makes Gettleman a bad GM
  • Gettleman is a bad GM for rolling the dice on our current OL and a backup OLman is down so we're fuged.
  • We're tossing the season for shiggles and job security.

We are the most stupidly panicked 2-1 team ever.

O-Line is death

I had to go to the stadium 3 weeks ago during late afternoon for work and Dollar Tree Dave was leaving. Dude looks like an 8th grade math teacher. Tucked in short sleeve button up plaid shirt and khakis with a fruity little briefcase.

We are in trouble now.  The fashion police are after Dave.  This man could be on the cover of GC.  Love those shorts waistband

up around the arm pits (just kidding, I love me some G-man).

Are you serious are you actually, really saying that out cap situation isn't terrible and that Dave is just being a cheapskate for no reason.

The panthers and JR are cheap dude

That's why we were up against the cap every year and handing out big contracts with tons of guaranteed money like happy meal toys for years

dude the panthers cap situation isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. It's an excuse for Gettleman to be cheap and joe public who doesn't know any better believes what Dollar Tree Dave says.

Finance isnt your thing I suppose.

H-How is that an excuse? No one here is saying the tackle situation  doesn't need to be upgraded? Just you cannot blame him for something he didn't see coming and would benefit the team.

Every here agrees that he needs to do something about the O-line right now.

Even before the Hardy situation, he knew our line was pathetic and still tagged him for 1 year for 13 mil. Dumb move.

He should've done something about the line 6 months ago.

Some posters act like this all of a sudden crept up on DG. No. Our oline was weak back in March. We had plenty of cap. Our number one priority should've been protecting our franchise QB. Instead we chose to tag Hardy and do nothing about the line. There is just no excuse for that any way you cut it. DG just simply dropped the ball on this situation. A total fug up.

people are crazy if you all think this organization is not very nervous about the lack of depth at o-line on this team.

it is getting very scary. i think we sign a body but it will just be another dude.

If all they are is nervous......hmmmmmm

Newton has rescued that offense more than once

He may not be capable this year. Time will tell

Truthfully too. I don't see a fire out there either. I just don't. Just my observation. I don't mean rah rah. I mean intensity and confidence

An oline has to have nastiness and desire to pop someone to run the ball. It's not there.

    • this     I never cease to be amazed at the number of people who will run up their blood pressure to get to the grocery store 30 seconds faster or are racing to get to work like it won’t be there at 8:02.   The only thing I’ve ever done that I think added more years to my life besides quitting smoking, was to learn to go with the flow behind the wheel.
    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
