Smitty matchup is advantage: Panthers

Interesting thought when my friend and I were discussing how amped up the game tomorrow is going to be.

If you think about it, the whole Smitty matchup deal should be an advantage for the Panthers. Why?

Smitty is really the only Raven that this whole "Smith-Panthers rematch" matters too. On the other hand, we know there are lots of Panthers players fired up about playing against Smith. TD, Luke, Cam, you know they all want to stick it to Smitty.

(Edited b/c apparently people here can't take me using a little bit of slang as a joke)

The Ravens don't need any extra motivation, once the ball is kicked its just football. We struggled against the Steelers' smaller quicker wrs. Anybody who has watched the Ravens this year will tell you that 89 looks a lot quicker and a lot faster than he did last year. It's going to be an interesting matchup. I can almost garuntee their first play will be a quick bubble screen to 89.

can we just give up on this concept that we're going to make smith start throwing haymakers and he's going to get ejected

he's a lot of things but he isn't stupid

Well he is a hot head and he does let that impact his play at times.

But unless Dave Gettlemen is out there he won't be throwing blows.

First of all, these guys are professional athletes and Steve Smith bears no ill will against any of his former players.

Second, the only DB on the roster who might be able to cover him is Norman.

Third, I guarantee you there will be talking, helmet slapping and I'm sure they'll all be smiling and joking with each other after the game.

Norman is probably the last person you want covering him.

There will be a lot of trash talking.

But I hope Norman doesn't see any work. He sucks and on top of that does dumb poo....89 would rent space in his head

I'm sure there are players here 89 dislikes and I am sure we got dudes that dislike 89. Oppoaite true too

Yea Norman was the guy that was running his mouth about 89 before he even got here. He's going to talk trash to whoever is covering him, needs to be somebody that can keep their composure. Norman ain't that guy.

    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
    • I mean, our TE room does suck but we had other pressing needs and no surefire upgrades in the draft. I was surprised at how many TEs went in the first three rounds. I think most everyone was. You want a guy who projects at least as a guy who has the potential ceiling to be a starter in those rounds and I didn't see 11 of those in this draft. Off the top of my head, I think that's how many TEs went in the first three rounds. It was in that range. That's roughly 10% of the overall picks. Definitely did NOT see that coming with this TE class.
