I really, really want to like ron rivera but it is incredibly difficult to keep a coach who has led his team to one winning season out of four. its inexcusable.

I know this is really premature but if the rest of the season plays out like the last two games(shoot me now) does JR have the balls to fire Ron after just extending him last offseason?

This season is giving me the same hopeless feeling I had 2 years ago and beginning of last year. I think this team and FO got complacent this offseason and didn't attempt to improve this season. This is the result. The fans saw our line needed fixing in March, we did nothing. The fans saw Shula is inconsistent and fails during crucial times. We decided to keep him. The fans saw our safeties were going to look bad after letting Mitchell and company go. We signed a guy that should be retired and a guy that looks lost just about every play. Only decent thing we did was draft for the future at the position.

This season is mostly falling hard on DGs shoulders. How can you not put protecting your franchise QB as priority #1? And the coaches are looking like the 2011 and 2012 versions. DG has some huge work to do this offseason, like he should've done this offseason.

Yup. Too many people got blinded by that win streak last season and ignored the fact that this offense had been exposed. Some of us even saw it coming before the Niners game.

This.  I understand his draft and FA philosophy but you have to prioritize somewhat.  You can't just go grab whoever you think is the best football player regardless of position.  He needs to balance that out a bit because he just seems stubborn and convinced certain things will work themselves out.  Chandler, Bell, and Foucault/Norwell are our active tackles right now.  Like wtf.

It started towards the end of last season when our defense was killing it.

    • The third is about where I see him and would take him. I’m not using any of our 1st two picks on a QB. I want the panthers to focus on building up the def or bringing in a playmaker with those picks
    • Russ worked.  I still vote Doug Flutie as a competent, sometimes really good starter when he came back from the CFL - and I maintain, I think he could’ve been that without going to the CFL, part of why he didn’t was because of the stigma the NFL has against smaller QBs to begin with.  But, both Flutie and Russ had above average to excellent athletic traits - be it arm strength, strength, elusiveness, etc.  and Kyler could’ve been right up there with him if he cared about football as much as he does Call of Duty and streaming.     the difference between those guys and Bryce?  Again, Bryce has almost zero desirable athletic traits you would want in an NFL QB.  He is below average in every category. And then to boot, as you said, if you’re below average in EVERYTHING physical, you HAVE to be damn near the best mentally and processing - and he proved to be even subpar in that category.  All of that to say, I will NEVER understand what anyone in our organization saw in him to not only draft him, but to trade up to do so and then give him 3 whole years to stink it up.
