In retrospect, the season was lost the moment we "suspended" Hardy for the season

Hardy dominated last season. He dominated the preseason. He dominated Week 1 vs. Tampa Bay. Suspending him has done two things to this team: It shows that ownership and management is weak and willing to cave to media pressure. Shows that they are willing to sell them out in a heartbeat if it gets pressure off them. It also took our only pass rusher off the field. Charles Johnson is having his worst season in years and hasn't had a decent QB pressure I can remember. Quarterbacks are suddenly free to shred guys like Roman Harper and Thomas DeCoud apart. Signing run defending safeties that lack in coverage skills only works if you're going to get a solid pass rush!!!!

Cam's injuries, stars like Kuechly and CJ suddenly playing averagely, Shula throwing us back to the Dan Hennig days, having no deep threat whatsoever.....these are all huge contributors to the suckitude that is the 2014 Panthers, but needlessly suspending Greg Hardy was a self-inflicted decision that hurt more than any other.

Yup, four weeks into the season we are at .500 and the season is lost. Yup

How many teams go on to make the playoffs after consecutive blowout losses during the regular season? My guess is not many.

Hardy's not coming back, Cam won't suddenly heal, we won't magically get Ginn and/or 89 back, Shula won't be fired during the season.

We are a defense driven team. Without our front 7 on the field.....we just aren't a good team. It was a dangerous gamble bc it assumes for 2 years in a row you could luck out and keep them on the field most of the year.

Not having Hardy drastically changes what we are. Add one more like TD today and we are a weak D.

Everything about our O is dependent on playing complementary football with good D.
