Smitty all but locked up a HOF vote today..

He backed up his words and gave the media a great story leading up to the game- delivered tremendously on gameday- and stayed classy while doing it. Now the media has a great write up for Monday and the rest of the year or 2 to pad his numbers and possibly make another deep playoff run.

I think he all but sealed the deal today.. now its just a matter of time.

Congrats Smitty!!!

89 didn't have a HOF resume before today. All those same issues still exist.

Still a HOF talent though. Resume is all yardage though.....in a world where there where be tons of it. His career overlapping into the pass era hurts most

And a Ravens jersey to retire in! Or at least I hope so...

Either way, he's pissed off a significant percentage of the fan base so *if* he ever does retire as a Panther many won't be celebrating and many will be downright disgusted.

Enjoy the Ravens Smitty!

Time heals all wounds. The Packers look ready to welcome Favre back into the fold. When Smitty signs his one day contract and rightfully retires a Panther all wI'll be forgiven. Panther GOAT.

Not by me.  And not by a goodly percentage of others Panther fans.  Admittedly many will, but many more will not.  You can't trash your team like he did and expect a 'prodigal son' return.  He ain't family.  He's an immature braggart who complained and criticized his teammates for years while taking in a salary that would make most anyone else on this planet thank God.  Instead, he acts like a fugtard and then talks about Sunday School the next day.  What a charlatan...

He got thrown out like last week's garbage by a new GM. I'd be mad too. To be fair, he's had a lot of good things to say about the Panthers as an organization.

Don't be mad at Smitty because he pulled himself up by the bootstraps and excelling elsewhere at 35 years old. He's the best player we've ever had.

It's weird how so many Panthers fans are so mad at Steve Smith. There will be nearly universal adoration for Smitty when he retires here. Some of y'all just mad.

Nah.

Needs more yards, and needs a ring.

Yards aren't the issue it is his lack of touchdowns. Now if he plays the rest of the season like he's started he will be much closer to the hall. However it still wont make him a lock; the only thing that would do that would be a Superbowl MVP and a second triple crown. He finds a way to pull that off and he'd first ballot just off the swagger of that alone.

No, there won't be "universal admiration".  I won't be.  If he'd been a class act after the move, then by all means yes, but all of his years of gloating, hitting teammates and being a locker room cancer were overlooked by me because he wore a Panther uni.

He's not wearing one now.  He showed he has NO loyalty to the Panther fans (he owes none to the organization) so he shouldn't expect any loyalty from us.  Sure as hell ain't getting it from me.  You trash talk my team ONCE and you're in my doghouse.  Don't give a d.a.m.n. what you did before...

    • yeah, I can get a little of that.  But that's not what he is posting in his argument just now though.   He said people wouldn't even concede to the literal ability to do it when pressed on the literal ability.  I have never seen that.  He maintains it exists somewhere.  I mean, using anomaly games to make arguments about players just isn't the way.   There wasn't a defender within 10 yards of our guys on 2 of those 3 throws Sunday.  No one within 5 on the 3rd.   That's not Bryce Young answering questions about his play downfield..  That's Bryce Young taking advantage of coverage busts by a bad D.  Which hey, that's part of the game too.  Recognition and seeing the field.   It can't totally be dismissed.   That's still good play.  You want your QBs to make those plays.  But it's not getting into the long standing critique of BY IMO.
    • Deserved, I wouldn’t use that word. Asked for? For sure. Am I upset over it? No.  People forget that AT was throwing his helmet in frustration last season over his QB’s ineptitude. The same QB was pretty inept to start this year, no guarantee AT would have helped him in those games any more than he did last year.  Just sayin.  And Dan doing him a solid probably did not go unnoticed by players around the league. I think it increases his rep with potential FAs. It sure can’t hurt it.
    • You think that was the fault of the guy that was lighting it up or maybe the bums around him? Funnily enough, those bums are still being bums in his absence. Who would have thought!
