An interesting point was made on a show this morning...

Herm Edwards brought up the point of o-line play across the league being poor at the start of the season partly due to lack of practice time thanks to the current CBA and another part of that being injuries.  Its an interesting point as a only a few teams have all of their starters intact from the previous season, and those teams playing better on the o-line.  I wonder if this part of the CBA could be revisited during the offseason.

Please spare me the "o-line sucks", "Shula is a terrible OC" and "Gettleman is a terrible person" stuff.  I say that knowing the first replies to this are gonna be troll replies.  If I'm proven wrong, I'll be impressed.

I voiced my concerns early in camp about how loose practices were. Hardly any contact at all, far more non padded days than padded days.

But I think our woes come from two tackles who are severely inexperienced against playing 3-4 defenses. Neither have played against them before this season in their current position, and neither had hardly any practice going against it all offseason.

They didn't look bad against Tampa and Detroit at all who run the standard 4-3 the guys were used to seeing and had plenty of practice against.

If they do well this week, we definitely will see the root cause of the poor play over the past two weeks.

That'd be interesting, for sure!  I mean, I hope we play well against the Bears as a fan, but it will be really telling if we just aren't good against a 3-4.  If that's the case, the coaches need to get on it.

I hope against hope that the Oline "gets it" sooner rather than later....

I expect to see Chicago bring a lot of pressure around the edges from the secondary.

I hope they do.  We could feast on quick routes all day.  I kind of don't expect to see much pressure from the secondary, due to them being so depleted in that area.  Hell, they have a guy rotating from LB to SS during the game.

I would love to see Kelvin lined up in the slot opposite of Olsen running 5-8 yard slant pops all the way down the field. Our offense has really moved it well when we get the ball out quickly.

However for some reason, even in 3rd and short, our receivers haven't even looked back at the ball and Cam has already been trying to avoid pressures from 3 different defenders.

I think they will given enough time, but that's wishful thinking on my part.   I feel like extra practice time would help that, but sadly that's not going to happen.

    • The OP for one. Asserting that people blamed Bryce for the loss in the title of the thread. That was not the prevailing sentiment at the time this thread was created. Very much a minority thing, I don’t remember but maybe one person if that, putting it on Bryce as the main reason. Troll thread. Did a good job too. Look at the pages.  Someone counting up the draft picks as 10 on offense and 10 on defense or whatever the number was, today or yesterday - of which the offensive ones were heavily 1s and 2s and the defensive picks were heavily day 3 and declaring that proof that the offense wasn’t favored like people claim. The obvious neglect we watched for two years. I spent time refuting that bullshit because someone needed to.  People saying we are bad horrible people and hate poor lil Bryce for no reason, as if it is a personal thing. Constantly.   Along the same lines is people saying we non Bryce fans would rather lose than have him play well and the team wins. That we are mad when the team wins   Point illustrated.
    • Might not have been in this specific thread... As far as the other, I'm not necessarily reading every post that isn't responding to me so I don't think I saw that. Mind you, we've certainly seen the "not a real fan" stuff on here before.
