Why I don't take the cowboys seriously

The Cowboys always look great early in the season and then fade late.

Cowboys have been a consistent 1st half of season/2nd half of season team under Romo other than 2010 when they started 1-5 under Romo then went 5-5 under his backups (4-5 under Kitna, 1-0 under McGee)

2006: 4-4 then 5-3 (Romo 1-1 then 5-3)

2007: 7-1 then 6-2 (all Romo)

2008: 5-3 then 4-4 (Romo 4-2 then 4-3)

2009: 6-2 then 5-3 (all Romo)

2010: 1-7 then 5-3 (Romo 1-5 then 0-0)

2011: 4-4 then 4-4 (all Romo)

2012: 3-5 then 5-3 (all Romo)

2013: 4-4 then 4-4 (Romo 4-4 then 4-3)

They've only been to the playoffs 3 times in the Romo Era:

2006 (age 26 Romo, 1st yr as starter)

L 20-21 at Matt Hasselbeck Seahawks (9-7)

2007 (age 27 Romo, 2nd yr as starter)

L 17-21 to Eli Manning Giants (10-6)

2009 (age 29 Romo, 4th yr as starter)

W 34-14 over Donovan McNabb Eagles (11-5)

L 3-34 at Brett Favre/Adrian Peterson Vikings (12-4)...Favre: 4 TD, 0 INT

2014? (age 34 Romo, 9th yr as starter)

to preface, I don't know any annoying boys fans. in fact, one of my best friends is one and he is the most logical fan I know. that being said, I'm really struggling to understand the hate for them (not referencing anyone in particular) but everyone seems to think they are going to poo the bed inevitably.

I'm not saying they are going to win a superbowl, but jerry jones deserves some credit for putting together a monster o-line, superstar wideout, great RB and smart veteran QB- as well as finding talent for a defense that was supposed to be atrocious

    • It’s wild to me that so many of you guys are threatened by the idea of an opposing team fan who is polite in 2025. He’s been posting here on and off for years, usually when our teams play each other which hasn’t been for a while. I’d maybe understand this treatment if it was a falcons or saints fan, but packers fans in general are one of the nicer fan bases as long as you aren’t another NFC north team (especially the bears).
    • Some players excel on the big stage, while others freeze and succumb to the pressure. I’m not convinced Cam took a dive. I think he didn’t handle the stage very well. The pressure got to him and he folded. He wouldn’t be the first quarterback or player to struggle in a Super Bowl. Two HOF examples - John Elway and Jim Kelly. The 2002 MVP, Rich Gannon, threw 5 interceptions against the Bucs. Poor performances happen.  Unless of course you believe all these players threw the games they played in, but if that occurred, surely someone by now would have admitted taking a dive? 🤷‍♂️
    • It was always a matter of time with Cam’s playing style and a shorter shelf life than passers that protect themselves. I suppose Cam could have still been playing in 2028 ten years after the hit took place, but he would need to have evolved as a quarterback and become more of a passer than the dual threat maestro he was. It’s sad because it makes us think of what could have been, but I do feel it was always a matter of time until all the hits took their toll.
