I keep hearing everyone mention how much better we'll be when Norman returns. Am I the only one that fears the stupid penalties he brings for extra curricular activities after the whistle? I like his mean streak, but he does some boneheaded things when the play is over.

I'm on the fence about his return. I think the toughness he brings is needed, but he needs to be real disciplined in the coming weeks. We can't afford giving away more yards.

I have always been quick to point out his negative....

But at this point we need to try something. If he can bring a mix of positive and negative it might be worth it. Secondary is just a punching bag right now and they look like they know it. Harper too.....might be better off giving the rookie reps to grow

During the Lions game, they showed a clip of him shutting down Megatron on a play and staying draped on him step for step on the entire route, it was pretty impressive. He has improved a lot and is miles better than what we have now

he's only played a limited number of snaps this season, but out of his 40 something coverage plays he's only been targeted 2x but opposing quarterbacks.

he has to be doing something right.

They all need to rotate and give this defense a new look. White on the right, Cason the left, we're too easy to gameplan against. Sometimes I dont think our coaching staff realize teams watch tapes on us as well and put in a plan to defeat us

the only place cason needs to be rotated to is the bench.

it won't matter what they do, whoever he covers is going to be one of the quarterback's primary reads.

cason is the equivalent of an open garage door for any quarterback to throw thru.

I truly believe that Norman-White-Bene are the best options we have at this point. But like most of you said, things just need to be shaken up. If Norman can keep just a bit of that attitude without losing his cool he has a chance to make an impact. At least thats what I'm hoping for. Id rather bring back Drayton Florence than see Cason at this point

Norman has one personal foul in his entire NFL career, when he was a rookie.  I wouldn't fear that too much.  It was his technique and scheme discipline that was the big problem.

    • This is gonna be longest six weeks ever
    • This 1000%.  Hey who wants to sign with the guy that couldn't even get his client the guaranteed contract of a 3rd round pick?  Lmao
    • I don't think it's any weird or unique clause, it's the offset language, same thing so many contract disputes are over. It just means that including it, if a player is cut and then signed by another team, the original team would be able to subtract how much they're getting paid by the new team from what they still owe him on their guaranteed money. For example, it's why Russell Wilson signed for the minimum last year with the Steelers as that was included in his Denver contract.  So if he signed with the Steelers for $1 million, he'd get $1 million less from the Broncos, if it was $2 million, he'd get $2 million less, basically he couldn't make any more money than he was already going to make, so you sign for the minimum to not take unnecessary cap room from your new team while giving extra cap room to your old one. The problem with trying to include it in rookie deals is that a team trying to include it, it says they think they don't really believe the player will make it 4 years with the team before they cut them.  And this usually comes up with one or two rookies in most seasons, the difference is it's usually handled much more quietly and not as public and ugly as this one. The other difference is that it's happening with the Bengals, which I believe I saw are one of the few (or only?) team that doesn't have protections for rookies in rookie and mini camps to be able to participate even if they haven't signed their contract yet.  The other teams have injury protections that allow them to still play, but the Bengals do not, which is also why this one is so public and ugly, as most the time this happens, the rookie is still participating in the rookie and subsequent mini camps, giving them more time to get the contract done before training camp when they'd then hold out.
