Playing to win versus playing not to lose

And Shula fits Rivera's philosophy perfectly.

No mistakes, conservative offense, win with defense.

Except it's kinda hard to score on defense.

I can't remember who said it, but it was someone on here. Hell, it may have even been you. They said Rivera and Shula complement each other PERFECTLY! And it couldn't be more true.

So to expect much else any Sunday just isn't worth it. For a last second loss I'm surprisingly not that mad. It sucks but I'm pretty sure we all expected it.

Its like RR was literally the only mother fugger in the whole state who didn't realize Seattle was going to score a TD on their last possession.  There isn't a single stupid mother fugger on this forum who would have put money on us keeping them out of the end zone when their last drive started.

I honestly think he was hoping for them to miss a FG and get out with the lucky W.

    • I never thought a second look was even necessary. I was begging the football gods not to have us trade up to the 1st pick. And damn once we did it was a thoroughbred vs a little pony.    If you have a perceived generational player in the pool and you have the 1st pick, you just don’t trade it. In the first place. But all this Bryce drama - which (understandably) takes over almost any thread, just like this one - would never have happened if the team was not sold to Tepper.
    • I agree. I understand why he did though. And surely he had his parents in his ear who have always gone out of their way to make sure he always had the best and the least amount of adversity around him to that point in his life advising him to do so. Where I take the most issue with it is when people who just want to be sycophants start listing off other QB's who didn't throw at the combine and you don't even make it through half the names before your eyes roll right into the back of your head realizing every single of those QB's who didn't throw already clearly showcased the necessary prerequisite physical talents needed for the position.
