We drafted Ealy instead of an OT. We brought in terrible FAs. Terrible. It isn't like I'm playing Monday morning GM. No one wanted this sh!t to happen when it was happening.

Which is why I keep having a hard time when people get defensive over the Gettleman criticism. It isn't criticism made strictly with hindsight... as you said, everyone was pretty unaniamous about how bad the moves were when they were made. Just like the OT situation, everyone agreed that it was the most concerning position heading into the season because Bell was horrible and Chandler was still an unknown having only converted to OT last season.

Everyone hated the Harper signing.

Most hated the Smitty release, because it was unnecessary.

And i'm willing to bet had people found out that Cotchery and Avant would be playing as the #2 and #3 WR with two UDFAs playing behind them, they wouldn't have been nearly as satisfied as they were with those moves.

Cason is the only one I really remember people celebrating and that has looked horrible so far.

I've just ignored this defense of Gettleman as well, because I never remembered making an offer to him. So, thank Voth for confirming that... hopefully that myth can just die now and Gettleman fanboys can move onto the next excuse as to why he sabotaged our team, particularly Cam and the offense.

I caught more "Gettleman knows more about o-line than you" comments this summer than I can shake a stick at. My biggest concerns were OTs and Shula and I got ripped on both accounts. I'm not looking for redemption here, I'm just saying some people don't know what the hell they are talking about.

And yet many here still revert automatically to the "they get paid to do this. Look at his resume!" argument. Yet, he couldn't foresee our OL being a dumpster fire lol.

I just hope that Norwell can continue to work and improve and be an answer at OG.  I think the Amini ship has sailed and Turner has been none too impressive.  Turner is very young for an OL though and I'll always give a rookie at least one full NFL offseason before judging him.

I think Turner will be fine. Isn't he only 21? And he is already that big? He's only going to get better and stronger. Amini has sucked since the jump. How bad is he? Sometimes I forget he isn't Mackenzy Bernadeau.

And I agree, Norwell looks the part. There was a marked difference in the run game yesterday, and that starts with the guards... but again, that brings into question why it took that long for him to get playing time.

Yea Voth has said this more then a few times when people question Gettelmen about his attention to the Oline.

Gettelmen did nothing this off-season for the Tackle position but give Chandler a extension.

It's a nice thought by RR but who is going to play tackle for us? Guys who can actually improve the state of the team are probably on other rosters..not Bruce freakin Campbell.

I just don't get why we settle for field goals. !st drive? Fine? The second? It's time to go for it. If the other team scores a TD they just put those two great drives for 6 points to waste. The offense was working too hard and too well with nothing to show for it in the first half.
