Mid-Field playcalling vs Red Zone playcalling

West Coast type offenses need speedy, elusive receivers who get a lot of yards after the catch.

Do you see anyone like that on our squad?

Like I said, I'd be satisfied with the slow guys catching the ball and falling down.  6-10 yards is better than asking the OL to try to hold a block for more than .75 seconds.  Might even theoretically have the added bonus of making the defense concentrating on loading up the LOS since our passes are coming out so quick and making the run game work a little better.

I'd be willing to try. I'm just not optimistic.

The problem is defenses change between the twenties yet our play calling remains the same

Less field to defend. Plus it's tough to run a big play offense on a short field.

Ideally this is where the power running aspect of a Coryell comes in, but clearly we don't have that.

I generally prefer Coryell to WCO, but even I have to admit that's one area where the West Coasters might have an advantage.

I mean, fair enough. But he's a tight end, so it's not like that's some scathing indictment or anything. It's just kinda like...so what?

so the point of a screen pass is to get the ball to a playmaker in space. ed dickson and brandon williams are both better options for YAC at TE.

i wasn't criticizing olsen at all

Yes, lots of quick slants, quick outs, anything with the word quick in it.  They would thrive in that.  With our OL we need to become a dink and dunk offense.

it's how KC is winning, its how Arizona is 6-1 with the 25th worst offense in the league!  Funny how creative coaching can do wonders with sub-par talent!
