Blowing up your wr corp is more or less blowing up a third of your offense.

You get better every year or try to. The front office didn't add the best pieces this year.

Let's examine this WR corp

a.) We're not going to talk about Smitty that's been beaten to death

b.) not one person here wanted to re-sign Lafell. he was widely inconsistent and had some crucial drops last year

c.) we wanted to re-sign Ginn! this has been publicized multiple times. his contract was too rich for our pockets. if we had overpaid to keep Ginn it would have been a sign that nothing had changed since the Hurney era.

d.) I'm not even sure Hixon is playing this year

Our WRs were bad last year, real bad. We went out and tried/did improve their production. We signed veteran guys, who haven't played bad at all this year. We went out and spent a first rounder on a WR.

I'd hardly call that blowing anything up, oh and we retained our best receiver from last year: Olsen

Some huddlers are literally calling for everyone to be cut or traded outside of 5-7 guys. That's insane and is never going to happen in the NFL.

It's funny you bring up WR because that's exactly how we should approach O-line and the secondary this offseason. Those two units clearly need an upgrade. That isn't blowing your team up.

My point is it was a full unit. Rarely does that happen.

20/20 being what it is shows it was the wrong unit.

I don't think blowing the whole thing up is ever the wise move.

first off brady career is much longer than cams. 2nd off brady was sacked 3 times less than cam last season and if cam didn't have his legs he'll be sacked much more. what the hell you smoking on with that last statement

It's actually true that mobile QBs tend to take more sacks. Pretty sure Vick was the single most sacked QB in the League at least once, maybe more.

Lots of theories as to why, but if you check the stats you'll find it's true pretty much every year.

Go to a stats site like profootball reference.

Just pug in the names of some players you can think of and look at their career sack percentages.

For mobile QB's you can go way back to the Staubach's, Tarkenton's, Steve Young's , etc....move forward to the Michal Vicks, the Randall Cunninghams,Cam Newton's, etc.

Then check out the sack percentages of some "immobile" types...Brady, Manning, Marino, ETC, ETC, ETC.

You might be surprised what you find.

Even with Denver down by 3 possessions it is an exciting game. While also being a depressing game as a Panthers fan. Y'all just see both units change up while the play clock was winding down. THIS IS FOOTBALL RON! THIS IS FOOTBALL SHULA!

This is the biggest surprise about how bad the Panthers are. The Broncos are getting whooped like Adrian's boy but Manning has 438 yds because he's still trying and all the players, lineman, coaches, receivers are working despite the score.

Panthers get blown out and can't even make plays in garbage time. About the only time you see us making garbage time plays is when DA gets put in. Otherwise it's cam scrambling around and getting sacked play after play.

Frustrating isn't it? I keep saying it's the coaches, we have talent, coaches are ruining this team, from the HC, to coordinators, to WR, OL, and Secondary coaches...they must be clueless.

i seen this blow out coming from the first quarter, when manning gets "happy feet" its gonna be a rough day...and i seen him dancing around out there from the first quarter on...

This a classic home field game. If this were Denver we probanly get an opposite result.

Yep. We're either too conservative to comeback and win or too conservative to stay ahead. Ron would never go for it on 4th down with a lead like Sean Payton did Thursday night. The great depression, this is.

    • It's funny how the teams with the great QBs stay at or near the top of the league every season.  Yes it is a team game, but the QB has the biggest impact in most NFL football games.
    • Look, no one is ever a perfect player.  Since the QB handles the ball on 100% of plays offensively (unless there's a direct snap to a RB or something), I can absolutely see where they get an outsized blame and gain from what happens at any given snap of a football game.   Theoretically, there shouldn't even be a stat or idea to a 4th quarter comeback or game winning drive because you should already have done that during the game.  Losers!  Right?  Just because you win late doesn't take away the fact you tried to lose the game for your team! I'm not a fan of that opinion, but again, I'm just a moron with a keyboard.   Bryce has limited tools.  Bryce has not inspired the same level of confidence in us as Cam Newton did in year 3.  I certainly get that.  We traded a TON of assets to get Bryce, and we still suck.  (I mean, since we've lost games, we're losers right?) I completely understand that some fans are just unhappy with a limited QB and a team that isn't performing well, unless the other teams are worse losers than we are. I will say this:  Bryce will fight until the end.  Sure, he's has some real loser football.   But in close games, he's doing his best to comeback (even against a winner of prevent D). Now is it better or worse if your QB plays their best ball in the first half and sucks 2nd half so long as they finish with 300 yards, 3 TDs for your fantasy points? Who said stats are for winners anyway?  The Panthers and Bryce has a long way to go.  I'm enjoying the winning right now.  Though I do start each game thinking "how will we fug this up today?" Because it's been such a poo show in the Tepper era.  Will he prove to be a legit starting NFL QB?  Maybe not here as evidence by our record with QBs who were high draft picks.
    • Ive never liked the term game winning drives because they include games where the QB was part of or was the reason the team was behind in the first place. Ive been arguing against this stat since the Delhomme years. It should only count when the QB is out of the equation of reasons why the team fell behind in the first place and is at least half the reason why he led the last drive to give them a lead. It shouldnt count if they just hand it off most of the time and the RB is on fire and they go down and score a TD or FG.
