How much longer can Clifford keep Neal on the bench?

Yeah, as much as I'd like to think his production would be the same as a starter, it wouldn't. We thought he'd be going off last season when he got his chance as a starter with Hendo out and he didn't. He's best suited as a sixth man. Some guys are just wired for it but can't do the same when given the role as a starter. It's like they become too selective with their shots as starters where when they come off the bench they're just ready to take it whenever the opportunity presents itself.

I would, however, like to see Neal get a crack at some of the end of the game shots. We went to Kemba the first three games when the game was on the line. He's 2-4. Cliff needs to mix it up a little.

We can complain about kembas field goal percentage and shot selection for days but if you go back and watch his buzzer beaters run out of the half court there's no doubt in my mind the play call every time is for kemba to run around and try to get space to get a shot up. I suspect that's been called on many other occasions as well.

I don't mind the call - but is that the ONLY final shot call we have?

Right now imo, the best lineup has neal in it. I understand the points/energy off the bench, but neal is playing like one of top five players.

Someone needs to start a thread and list your starting five.

Pg- roberts = he runs the O better right now

Sg- neal = 3s, energy, D, O etc.

Sf- lance= he's struggling to find his way. Just take him over the other options

Pf- marvin= this is much closer given the last two game by zeller.

C- big al= nothing needs to be said here.

    • Basically agree.  He is the one of that bunch that offers upgraded pass catching along with he is supposed to be kind of special.   Then you have the OL and the ideas that if they perform you can have JAG backs and still do well. So okay we could be fine.  But Brooks is important and to me that receiving element sets him apart.  So there sure is something riding on him.     What strikes me as incongruent is people over in Atlanta or those that follow them look at Penix with a third surgery and act like it is no big deal.      And we are on pins and needles over Brooks.  Either they should worry a lot more or we should worry a lot less.
    • I usually go a game or two optimist over the consensus here but this is too early for me to say. I need to see some players on the field.  I am not feeling real optimistic though.
    • Okay as a ‘take CJ’ fan I actually don’t obsess over CJ and Houston, contrary to the narrative.  But I thought I picked up some noise that his OL left a lot to be desired.    Not a single Beyce supporter would judge him harshly if he had a crappy OL. We all know that.    So be fair about it.  A QB needs to be protected.  Especially a guy that gets to his spot and wants to finish the play from there. Which CJ is.
