We have talent, and can be a playoff team next year.

Cam Newton, KB, Olsen, maybe Philly Brown on offense, Luke, TD, Star and maybe Greg Hardy on defense. No team is going to have superstars at every position. We have guys that are capable of winning football games. The problem is our coaches don't know how to play to the strengths and weaknesses of our team. Running slow, long routes behind this O-line is unacceptable. Look at the Detroit Lions. We are basically them, last year. They sucked because their coaching staff was inept. Enter Jim Caldwell. Now they're winning games at the last minute and are going to compete for home field advantage. We can get this turned around quickly.

I really dont see that. We might with the right coach and some luck like we had last year but that's a perfect storm situation.

Talent on OL and secondary was better by a fair margin...and it wasn't even good then

We can. It is true.

If we finish last in the NFCS we will play at least two extra crappy teams next year.

Plus we play the AFC South next year.

We have pieces but our deficiencies are glaring.

We have to find some sort of o line or offensive philosophies this offseason

We'll have Cam, Olsen, Ryan Kalil if he counts still, Stewart(?), and KB on offense coming back. Not a good offense.

We'll have Luke, aging Thomas Davis, Star, Short, CJ if he counts still. Not a good defense.

Nothing at special teams.

We somehow have way more holes going into 2015 than we did going into 2014, the supposed stupid "rebuilding" year. It's possible we could make the playoffs next year, but Gettleman will need to find a way to sign a better free agent than Joe Webb.

Also, don't forget that even Jacksonville or Oakland could come up with a list of 10-15 good players they'd like to see come back next year too. Every roster has talent somewhere.

Every team has stars. We have a lot of problems right now and I am starting to believe that it may take more than this offseason just to fix these major holes we have. We have no cap room, need an offensive line and WRs, and a secondary. We also have to get a starting caliber DE because we have none to pair with Johnson. Now maybe Hardy can come back but if not we have to replace him.

we have a core to upgrade our junk around. but truth is, even our best players arent even playing good anymore, other than maybe Olsen. should a handful of good moves and we can get 3 starters out of the next draft, then we could be in contention. but this franchise needs to make a splash in free agency, something it hasnt really done in its 20 years in existence.

    • I would heavily push back on the notion of Tomlin and Cowher inheriting "collapsed teams." From 1980 to 1991(prior to Cowher and after their Super Bowl victories) the Steelers experienced just 4 sub .500 seasons. In fact the winning percentage for those years was 0.505. At most that was relatively mediocre, something fairly akin to the pre-Tepper Panthers. From Cowher through Tomlin(1992 to Present) it has been the NFL's best franchise. 22 playoff appearances, 4 Super Bowl Appearances, 2 Titles, 15 times winning the division. In fact they have only experienced 3 sub .500 records in that 34 season span.  That isn't ever a scenario where rebuilding happens. It's constant and consistent retooling so that your franchise floor is always high. It's smart business decisions, exceptional drafting and quality personnel moves that create a situation where that floor STAYS high.  It was precisely BECAUSE we opted to go through a complete teardown and "rebuild" without any of that competence being in the organization at all that led us to where we are currently. A situation that will more than likely continue for well over a decade longer.  Long term successful franchises do not "rebuild." They are in a constant state of competent flux that sustains them through some leaner periods without ripping the foundation completely out that led to that success in the first place.
    • Houston's OL sucks but Stroud has also definitely regressed. Similar story to Jayden Daniels in Washington. Both guys looked like future MVPs as rookies but sustaining success in the NFL at QB is hard. The more tape there is on you for opposing DCs to study the harder it gets.
    • So I was curious and remember seeing a tweet but here are Young’s numbers vs Strouds number since that time  Stroud since week 3 2025. Bryce since coming back off the bench and playing in Denver
