We can't keep Ron Rivera or Mike Shula heading into bye week after that

I think if they fire Shula on Monday, Ramsdell could use the 2 weeks to seamlessly take over.

They won't, but I think they could.

Seamlessly take over the shitty playcalling that doesnt play to any of our offensive strengths ?  I would hope ramsdell would be somewhat more competant than shula otherwise why was he hired?

It's not a stupid decision, given that Gano is excellent from that range, it got the Falcons to waste their timeouts, and gave us enough time for another drive even if we failed provided our defense held. If we tried to pass, we might not have gotten any yardage, and the Falcons would have a minute left - with timeouts - to score.

yes it was stupid and most people knew it while it was unfolding.

I keep coming back to all the stupid in this post.

Even if Gano was the best kicker in the league, you want to give him the easiest FG attempt possible. A 46 yarder is not a gimme for any kicker.

Yes, Atlanta wasted their timeouts, but if you pick up a first down, they have to use their timeouts, you burn more time, AND Gano gets an easier opportunity.

Carolina got an opportunity for another drive, with :22 on the clock and starting at about their own 20, with no timeouts. What's a more desirable position for an offense down a point: on the opponent's 30 with 1:30 left, or on your own 20 with :22 left and no timeouts? The last drive barely counts as an opportunity.

"If we tried to pass, we might not have gotten any yardage, and the Falcons would have had a minute left - with timeouts - to score."  Well, Carolina ran it, missed a long and difficult FG try, and Atlanta didn't even have to try to score. Obviously hindsight is 20/20, but if Gano makes the 47 yarder, I'm still coming on here to b*tch about Rivera's decisions. A positive outcome doesn't justify poor process, and Rivera's process on the last three plays was about as bad as it gets. I'm not in the take a shot at the end zone camp, because that's high risk/low reward, given the circumstances, but if you draw up a high percentage, quick hitting pass play, the clock runs and you have a chance at picking up a first down, burning more clock, and making the GW FG attempt easier.

    • https://nfltraderumors.co/2026-nfl-draft-grades-for-all-32-teams/      Grade: B+ Best Pick: Sam Hecht Biggest Reach (consensus rank): Jackson Kuwatch (NR) It's easy to love what Carolina did. The Panthers traded four times but ended the draft with the same number of selections that they started with and in approximately the same ranges. They did not take a player ahead of the consensus until Kuwatch at No. 227, and it's easy to see how he fell through the cracks playing at Miami of Ohio. He's a high-end athlete, though, and has a chance to develop, which is a fine profile for a seventh-rounder. Freeling and Brazzell also checked the high-end athleticism upside boxes for the Panthers. Carolina let the board come to them in the first round and could have a long-term solution at left tackle, which is a hard position to fill. Brazzell slid because of some maturity concerns as well as the difficulty in projecting receivers from Tennessee's Mickey Mouse offense. At 6-4, 200 pounds and 4.37 in the 40, though, the upside is undeniable. On top of that, the landed three starters on Day 3. Normally that's a high and unrealistic bar, but Hecht and Wheatley were both firmly inside the top 100 on the consensus board and have paths to win starting competitions. Lee fits the scheme well and has some interesting traits as an outside corner. What stopped me from a full-out A grade is not loving the Hunter pick, though he does fill a need to replace DT A'Shawn Robinson. There were prospects at other needs positions I would have been more jazzed about. The Brazzell pick is also an interesting risk for a team that's still in building mode, even coming off an NFC South title. Still, I'm nitpicking
