Implications of the Rice Decision

Mr. Scot

Well I can agree with Saints fans on at least one thing. That being that Goodall is a pill. Why they haven't fired him is beyond me or maybe not. He's pretty handy for the owners being that he is attached to strings just like Pinnochio was. Come to think of it, his nose has seemed to grow.

Add that to some of the other unpopular stuff (18 game season, games in London, etc) and you've got lots of fuel on the fire.

This is the reason you wish and pray so hard to see Goodell ousted. This is why you've started multiple threads hoping this would finally be the end of Goodell. For this right here. Because he's "changing" your precious version of what you think football should be. It's pretty obvious from the other ten threads you've made about Goodell this season that this has been the reason all along but you never out right say it. You have been using this rice thing as means to and end hoping Goodell gets fired for trying to save the image of the league.

Regardless that he's been biggest disciplinarian commish the league has ever had or that he's basically put the league on a course to not implode due to legal trials on player safety but that he made it harder for defensive players and he wants to expand the season by two games.

I get that you're old and you've only known the game one way for so long but you have to admit your little act against Goodell is rather childish don't you think?

Why is Goodell the bad guy. I actually feel bad for the guy due to the fact every time he put the hammer down, he get shut down. This league is getting out of control, you can do anything and not really get punished. I stated on this board before, if anyone in the REAL WORLD done anything, they would get fired, it would not be questioned. Sad just sad. People are to concerned about a football and not about these men lives. Thats why a lot of them fail, kill themselves and become destructive after they are finished playing.

WTF? Literally less than 0.1% of the players in the league do more than smoke weed or get caught driving drunk once.

Lord almighty you have no clue what you're talking about

I start threads about topics I enjoy discussing. General NFL News happens to be one of them.

I realize your thing is to try and antagonize people (pretty childish way to have fun, but whatever). Not very effective in this case given that youre so far off the mark it gave me a chuckle . Regardless, my thing is to actually have interesting, intelligent conversations. Discussions with you don't really produce that.

So feel free to continue ranting if you wish. I'm not really interested.

Goodell to me deserves to be fired simply because of the position he is in.  He acts like judge, jury, and executioner, so why is it that he gets to blatantly lie to the public? to the players?  He should be fair, and impartial....and this incident compromises all of that, and considering how important "protecting the shield" is should there not be any reprecussion for his failure to protect it?  It just seems like players actions are underneath a microscope.

You're not the only one to feel that way.

In the wake of this year's scandals (that won't seem to go away despite the NFL's best efforts) loads of players took to social media to say that if they were brought to the Commissioner's office now, they'd call him out on the hypocrisy of his actions.

And naturally, if the players are thinking it, you know the NFLPA has it in mind.

Hardy is probably happy to be sitting on his ass collecting the check. I doubt he wants to give up any $. He really screwed this team good with his bullcrap antics. This decision doesn't effect him in the least. He is done at this point in the Carolinas.

Not really.

Even if he tried to come back now it'd likely just be a repeat of the Adrian Peterson story.

(but there's no real indication that he's trying all that hard)

Why should he try harder?  13 million will carry you for a few years.  Not taking into account all the past money he's gotten.

If the money's all that matters to him, yeah.

That said, I wonder if he realizes how much money he's probably cost himself with his shenanigans.  He was in lone for a big payday (probably not from us, but somewhere) that likely would have dwarfed what he got this year.  Now, who knows?

"Hey I'm just looking for interesting intelligent conversation. Now let me just completely try to avoid your argument and not back anything up

You've made multiple threads hoping Goodell would be fired for this then when practically begging for the old Marshal story to get traction when you for sure thought it would be the end of him. Just like I told you it wouldn't be.

Yeah the old wanna be Espn football news aggregator is a apt description of you. Sz James was on the money with that one

And if you think me calling you out on your limp crusade against Goodell cause he's taking your football way and using the rice "scandal" as your means then call it what you will but you're pretty fragile minded if you think I'm antagonizing you.

    • Which is why I'm all for trading Lamelo. Guy misses half of every season. I swear he just likes to sit on the bench to show off his street clothes. I think it negatively impacts the other guys who do the same. If guys don't want to play, they don't need to be here. Coach and gm need to get stricter
    • See, I have a different view of it. I think that just the opposite is very true, and often proven on our very own team.  Look at the impact that CMC had when he was here.  Look at how bring in two top rate IOL to play guard last season made a huge difference in finally getting a stable front for Bryce to live behind. It took a while for it to bear fruit, but those last games were just relevatory. And off ball linebackers like Luke Kuechly, not just running a defense but dictating the game when he's on the field, truly remarkable what a difference that makes. Personally, he had as much or maybe even more to do with that Super Bowl appearance as Cam did.  What I see in the NFL is teams trying hard to cover up for a lack of good linebackers by stacking the D-line. But it gives them a crust defense, one that is hard and crunchy on the outside but a feast within. Linebackers shouldn't just rule the middle of the field, but should be directing traffic and working as enforcers.  But hey, whatever. "Devalued" positions often come back to bite you in the ass when they are neglected. Ask anyone who has had to clean up the mess left behind by a former college coach who took over a pro team and brought their college recruiting mindset in. Yanno, like Matt Rhule did.
    • I see it this way--XL was raw.  Raw players when drafted who are forced to start immediately are very raw players in the NFL-- How is he helped? TMac will shift the focus of the defense away from XL.  XL will be more experienced.  He will have an offseason of jugs work.  He is a very good athlete.  He can only get better.  Wallace?  Same thing.  He will get better with an improved defensive front and the addition of these heat-seeking head hunters at S.  I think about the players we will have on defense in 2025 that we did not have in 2024. Derrick Brown. DE Brown III NT Wharton DE Jones Edge Moehrig S Princely. Edge Scourton. Edge Ransom. S Cam Jackson NT Roseboom  LB While we may not know what we have, we know what we don't have--
